The Ribeiro Chop
Published 5/11/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (Sean) at Sean Leahy's Going Five Hole
Last night, at the end of Detroit's 2-1 victory over Dallas, an ugly incident marred a pretty good hockey game. As you'll see, Mike Ribeiro is skating to the back of the Red Wings net and takes an apparent butt-end from Chris Osgood. Ribeiro takes exception and leans over the net and chops Osgood in the chest/upper body with his stick. ...
Ribeiro vs Osgood

It starts with Osgood butt-ending Ribeiro, and it ends with Osgood getting slashed across the chest. It’s time for the wheel of punishment.

Mike Ribeiro slash will add a little hatred to Western Conference final
Published 5/11/2008 by henwood at Hockey News & Opinions – Hockey.com
Looking for a little animosity to be charged into the Western Conference final? You just got it. Proving that the he is a lock to be named recipient of this spring's Bonehead Play of the Post-Season Award, Mike Ribeiro played lumberjack as the clock ticked down last night in Game 2 of their Western Conference final, coming over the net to give Detroit goaltender Chris Osgood a two-handed chop across the chest. Now, for the record, Osgood sold it pretty well, flopping around like he had taken a Dion Phaneuf slapshot between the peepers. Considering how today's NHL goalies are more protected than George Dub, we're ...

Lee Diekemper is here with your hockey insight.
Detroit 2, Dallas 1:
Good for the Wings: They only need two wins in the next five games (if necessary) to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. Bad news for the Wings: The second leading scorer in the playoffs this year, Johan Franzen, was scratched and will miss Game 3 in Dallas with what the team says are “concussion-like symptoms.” But if the Stars continue to be careless with the puck it may not matter. A turnover just inside the center line by the Stars in the first period directly led to Darren Helm’s first playoff goal this ...
Keeping it Going (Wings 2, Stars 1)
Published 5/11/2008 by Steph (noreply@blogger.com) at NO PUN INTENDED
The Red Wings won last night to go up 2-0 in the series against the Stars. Since one of Dallas' main accomplishments thus far was two quick road wins in enemy territory, being able to stymie them so far this has to give the Wings a pretty good feeling about the series. ...
No punishment for Ribeiro; should Osgood have been suspended?
Published 5/12/2008 at Puck Daddy
Both Dallas Stars coach Dave Tippett and forward Mike Ribeiro didn't expect there to be any suspension from the NHL in the aftermath of Ribeiro's two-handed slash to the chest of Detroit Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood at the end of Game 2. Seems like they might be the only ones that can comprehend the unpredictable and inequitable world of National Hockey League justice: No suspension for Ribeiro, but fines for both players as well as for Stars enforcer Steve Ott, who earned a misconduct for an attack on Kris Draper. Ribeiro said earlier today that Osgood was more guilty in this incident ...

As the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue, we're bound to lose some friends along the journey. Gone but not forgotten, we've asked for these losers to be eulogized by the people who knew the teams best: The fans who hated them the most. Here is Dave from the Red Wings blog Gorilla Crouch, ...
Chris Osgood's Dives Are Acceptable Since He's Winning

Is Ross McKeon serious ? Resort to whining? So is McKeon whining about the Penguins, then? Why else would his title have such harsh criticism? I take offense to the countless "opinions" on Game 2 that just want the Pens to shut up and focus on the game. So what if Chris Osgood is showing that he has no respect for the game, so long as he posts wins? As a Penguins fan, there's nothing that gets to me more than some dumb fan, writer, analyst calling Sidney Crosby a diver, which makes its way around the hockey community, infecting all who hears it. It seems like Penguins fans can't bring up Crosby's name without belligerent "DIVER!" calls drowning ...
