RedKing As if LT didn't make himself look stupid enough by opening his big mouth after his playoff loss last season against the Patriots -- now look what his teammates are upto yet again.
Notice the score to the game at the beginning of the video. The Chargers have proven over the past few years to be very unlikeable, at least in my eyes.
Merriman is a juicer and on top of that is one of the biggest show boaters in the league. When LT spoke up after their loss to the Patriots last year that was the first time I have ever heard the All-Pro act like a leader and what an awful time to start."And I can't sit there and watch that. And so, yeah, I was very upset. And just the fact that they showed no class at all. Absolutely no class. And maybe that comes from their head coach. So you know, there you have it."
The Chargers had been jawing all week and during the game, but LT is going to take offense to the winning team celebrating a closely contended game AFTER the victory by doing YOUR teammates ridiculous celebration dance?
Needless to say that was when I lost all respect for LT. He should be a team leader with that talent but you never see him doing anything but padding his own statistics. The team has so, so much young talent but somehow the team just can't take the next step. It would seem to be a leadership and management issue because it certainly is not a personnel issue.
The only thing more atrocious than LT's attitude is the Chargers front office. Good thing the Cromartie gamble payed off big time because the overhaul of the coaching staff certainly has not.
It just seems like a very hate-able organization at this point. An organization with no direction that would seemingly be happy just winning the division. Which brings up the point why fire Marty then? He was achieving your organizations goals. -
mmiracle Rivers is a puss, LT is his life partner(not that there's anything wrong with that) -
NFLAdam Word.
Although, I don't get the rap about Merriman and the steroids. If MLB players are juicing, then all of the NFL guys must be.

carmg So what Philip Rivers and other guys were taunting Cutler.
Why isn't anyone saying anything about Lynch, ripping off LT helmet."That was dirty"

About Rivers' Taunting ...
The Hater Nation —
Kind of torn on how to feel about Philip Rivers taunting of Jay Cutler. The taunting is kind of funny on one hand, kind of in the same way that makes professional wrestling entertaining. Although, this is the equivalent of Moon Dog Rex or Leaping Lanny Poffo running his mouth. Players having that kind of gumption is cool. But only if that player is actually good. The taunting -- good natured or not -- is kind of ironic considering that Rivers is the Chargers biggest liability right now. Yes, even bigger than Norv Turner himself who has found a ...
Rivers, Phillips and Whilhelm making fun of Jay Cutler
Hail Mary Jane —
The Chargers pretty much had their way with the Broncos last night. During the game Philip Rivers, Shaun Phillips, and Matt Whilhelm talked a lot shit to Jay Cutler. He deserved it because Cutler was crying the whole game. Can’t really blame him though because the Chargers were all over him. Check out the Chargers bullies:
Would you like to buy me a beer? (Donate to the site) This will go a long way in covering the costs of running ...
Philip Rivers Talks Trash to Jay Cutler
FanHouse —
Filed under: Broncos, Chargers, NFL Video, Denver, San DiegoQuarterbacks usually have a fairly cordial relationship with each other, and you hardly ever see one quarterback go after another. But that changed last night, when Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler failed to convert on a fourth down, and was on the receiving end of some trash talk from Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers: Video via Pro Football Talk, which notes that Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson likes to lecture others about having class and not taunting opponents. I wonder what ...
Philip Rivers Wishes Jay Cutler A Merry Christmas
FanIQ Blog —
I take it Jay Cutler and Philip Rivers won't be exchanging any gifts this holiday.
San Diego and Denver were awfully chippy last night and ended with, of all people, Rivers talking smack and making fun of Cutler after the Broncos failed to convert a fourth down in the final quarter.
MDS from FanHouse points out the irony of LaDainian Tomlinson always preaching class and sportsmanship. I didn't hear him calling out his teammates in the post game press conference.
Phillip Rivers, Sit Your Ass Down.
Signal to Noise —
The SD quarterback and two of his linemen started talking ish to Broncos QB Jay Cutler as the fourth quarter kept going and they were up by 20. I have no problem with his offensive line smacking it up and waving goodbye — they owned the Broncos weak D-line throughout the entire game. But Phil Rivers, despite a 10-win season ...
Philip Rivers is All Bark, No Bite
BroncoTalk —
Most fans, including myself, were pretty livid at Philip Rivers and company jawing over at the Broncos, particularly Jay Cutler, in Monday Night’s game. Video below:
Then I remember that Rivers sucks. Completely carried by the best running game in football and a defense that is returning to form. Rivers is only along for the Chargers’ ride.
To me, he’s all bark and no bite. I picture a Chihuahua (Rivers) barking at a young Rottweiler (Cutler). It kinda makes me laugh, knowing Rivers is just as delusional as that tiny dog who thinks he can ...
Philip Rivers Talks Trash
The NFL Guru —
In the above video Rivers is seen talking trash to Denver QB Jay Cutler. Rivers needs to sit his ass down and shut the hell up because he sucks. I don’t think Cutler is a good quarterback either but I’d take him any day over Rivers.
Reporter defends Chargers' Rivers
ESPN.com - NFL Nation Blog —
Posted by ESPN.com's Mike Sando Philip Rivers' trash-talking toward Denver's Jay Cutler made quite an impression to some watching on television. I was watching the game from the pressbox and didn't see the exchange. The fallout made me revisit the quote I included in a recent story about Rivers (one of his coaches, speaking last week, noted how much Rivers had matured this season). I really didn't know what to make of the Monday night situation. Context is elusive. Denver's Champ Bailey subsequently came out and ripped Rivers, which carried some weight, considering the source. ...

Chris Jessie, Mack Brown’s stepson, makes his presence known at last night’s Texas-Arizona State game…luckily for him, the Longhorns won 52-34, but he still is responsible for what is undoubtedly the best blooper of 2007 (thanks for the video, Awful Announcing):
Here’s video of Philip Rivers taunting Jay Cutler in this week’s Broncos-Chargers Monday Night Football game:
Classy guy that Phillip Rivers
Stampede Blue —
I'm keeping it "in the family" here: Eli Manning is far and away a better QB than Phillip Rivers. I don't need to compare stats, wins and loses, or interview coaches to see who is the favorite. All I need to look at is this video ...
Philip Rivers as Chachi from Happy Days
The World of Isaac —
There are a lot of words that could describe Philip Rivers. Cocky perhaps? Maybe douchebag fits too. But somehow those words dont entirely grasp the aura of Mr. Rivers. Its almost a cross between "guy who got picked on when he was little" and "angry drunken frat guy". After discussing this with some friends yesterday, it has been decided that one words fit Rivers to a T. CHACH! What? You never heard that word before? Ok fine, lets travel over to our good friends at urbandictionary.com to see what they have to say on the matter. According to them, Chach may have its origins on the hit show Happy ...
Rivers Shouldn’t Open His Mouth to Brady
Predominantly Orange | A Denver Broncos Blog —
Remember the trash talking that took place on Christmas Eve? You know, when you wanted to throw a wrapped present at your T.V. screen hoping to hit Philip River in his empty head? If not, here is the clip: Unless you are Tom Brady , you should not be running your mouth like that. Because Rivers and Brady are going head to head, I’m going to compare the two QB’s on many levels. As you can see, Rivers better put a sock in it because he’s not going up against Jay Cutler this weekend. 1. SuperBowl Wins: Brady: 3 Rivers: 0 2. 2007 TD to INT ratio: Brady: 50:8 Rivers: 21:15 3. Draft pick Brady: 199th (2000) Rivers: 4th (2004) 4. 2007 regular season record Brady: 16-0 ...
Well This Explains Why Philip Rivers is a Jackass
FanIQ Blog —
I've been struggling for a while now to figure out why Philip Rivers is such a jackass. Why did he heckle Jay Cutler? Why did he scream at Chargers fans? Why did he scream at the Colts' bench? And why did he get into a shouting match with a Colts fan? There must be something that's got this guy wound extra tight.
Yes, my friends, there is. And this video proves it. Philip Rivers is a huge fan of.....chastity.
Sure he may have 3 kids with his high school sweetheart and #4 on the way, but something tells me Rivers is, uh, kind of frustrated he missed his chance to pull a Romo. ...

I've refrained from posting my postseason thoughts here on BRB, primarily because I try to keep focused on your Houston Texans and, you know, we haven't really been to the playoffs yet. No more. A few thoughts on the 2007 playoffs as we await the New York Giants ...
Jay Cutler: “[Accidents] Like That Can’t Happen”
The Big Lead —
Though he’s not quite generating Matt Leinart-like headlines, Denver QB Jay Cutler has had his share of … shall we say, “interesting developments” two years into his career. There was the time he blew off Neil O’Donnell and a TV crew that had flown in from Nashville hoping for an interview with the local boy who had done good. And the famous trash-talking incident with Philip Rivers on Monday Night Football last year. Now, he’s gone after teammate Brandon Marshall, who suffered an “accident” recently when wrestling with family members, and will be out three months after surgery ...
Spreading Holiday Cheer
Minor-League Town —
Ah, the memories of Christmas past. That thought conjures up images of precious time with family sitting around the fireplace with eggnog and cookies. Or, if you're like us, it brings to mind Philip Rivers acting like a 12-year-old twit on national television. It was last Christmas Eve, when the excitable Chargers quarterback made a fool out ...
Let’s Get Cutler and Rivers in the Ring
The Big Lead —
Trash Talk: The hatred between Denver’s Jay Cutler and San Diego’s Philip Rivers dates back to a mouthy exchange on Monday Night Football last year. Cutler on TV this week: “I don’t like how he carries himself. I don’t like some of the stuff he does on the field.” (Bronco Talk)
CUTLER TAKES A JAB AT RIVERS
ProFootballTalk.com —
The rivalry between Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler and Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, which dates back to some on-field jawing during a game last season , got a little spicier recently when Cutler appeared on FSN’s Best Damn Sports Show. Said Cutler of Rivers: “I’m not that big of a fan of the guy. . . . I don’t like how he carries himself. I don’t like some of the stuff he does on the field.” It wasn’t exactly one of those old WWF pre-match verbal beatdowns , but it’s very rare to see NFL quarterbacks say anything remotely negative about each other. Here’s the video.

NFL Week 12 De-Cleeting: A Thin Line
Amphibious Sports Duo —
Once again we were at XM's place to watch the Saints obliterate the Packers last night 51-29 and while trying to enter a zen-like state where Tony Kornheiser's comments escaped my auditory senses, I jotted down my observations from the NFL action I watched this weekend. One thing that definitely stands out is how wafer-thin the line is in the NFL from success to failure. With 5 weeks left, teams once thought in the driver's seat could be holding onto the bumper as the playoff car speeds away. More NFL senseless insightful rabblings after the break. We won't get fooled ...
Sunday Night Football Open Thread
AwfulAnnouncing —
It's the Stoned Yokel vs. Marmalard in the Whale's Vagina for all the AFC West marbles, and I figure I'm safer and better off listening to this on the radio on the drive back to my little university town from L.A. rather than watch Al and John. "But you're a Broncos fan, aren't you, S2N?", you might ask, and that would be true. However, after watching this team give up two straight losses and utterly fail on defense, I remember how they lost out on a Wild Card spot two years ago thanks to losing in San Francisco in Week 17, and the last thing I think I want to do is see another similar collapse on TV ...
Welcome to the AFC West, Matt Cassel
Just Blog Baby | An Oakland Raiders Blog —
Let me first begin by saying that I am a Matt Cassel fan. I saw his career blossom back in 1998 when I moved into an apartment just down the street from Chatsworth High School.
Chatsworth was known as a powerhouse in baseball, but Cassel’s arm stole the headlines on the football field. When he committed to Pete Carroll at USC, I had no doubt he’d become a record setting passer in the PAC-10.
Timing is everything in life and Cassel was unlucky enough to be on a Trojan roster with two Heisman winners at the same position as his. He would be ...
The Detroit Lions need to throw everything they got in the Jay Cutler basket
It's Just Sports —
(Finally someone who might stand up to Drew Sharp) In one of the most bizarre stories of the off-season, it was reported over the weekend that Jay Cutler and his parents have put their Denver homes up for sale after Cutler had an unpleasant meeting with new Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. Couple things: obviously the Cutlers are ignorant to the national housing crisis which will make it difficult for them to sell their house(s?) and secondly, are they moving to a new city together? Does Cutler take his parents with him wherever he goes? Were they with him at Vanderbilt? So many questions ... The important question is: if Cutler is unhappy in ...
Big Babies
Women Like Sports —
Yeah, I get tired of the big babies in the NFL. I really do. These guys get paid a lot more money than most folks will ever see. Gross. Yeah, I know...this is not a new gripe. At any rate, this rant was brought on by the whole Denver and Jay Cutler thing. I was all for the firing of Mike Shanahan. It isn't that I don't like him, but it was time to go. Just like I thought, as hard as it was to swallow, that it was time for Jon Gruden to get out of Tampa. Both coaches had taken their teams all the way. Well, you could argue that Gruden took Tony Dungy's team to the Super Bowl but it was against ...
Great Moments In Haterism: Philip Rivers Gets Thumped By High School QB
Music City Miracles —
I make no secret of rooting against Philip Rivers in just about everything. I've never met him, but I just don't like the guy's attitude (and I'm not talking about hoakey, staged interviews; Ty Cobb could come off as a likable fella if ESPN flacks were lobbing softballs his way), noodle-armed lob passes that float in the air for 30 minutes or antics a single bit. The guy gets carried to wins by the tremendous talent around him, but acts like he's doing it all himself.
Don't agree? Don't much care. About 30% of sports is all about those meaningless grudges and players/coaches/clubs you can't stand for ...
Philip Rivers Gets Paid (Again), Signs $93M Contract Extension
Obsessed With Sports —
Nearly exactly 5 years ago, in August 2004, Rivers signed a six-year, $40.5 million contract with the Chargers. Monday Rivers signed an extension that includes nearly that much in guarantees ($38.5 million). Furthermore, the full value of the deal could reach $93 million.
Rivers has been the starter in San Diego for the past 3 seasons. He has compiled an impressive 33-15 record over this time. However, during this same period Rivers is only 3-3 in the playoffs.
Although the team struggled last year, Rivers had his most impressive statistical season. A QB Rating over 105, over 4,000 yards, 34 TDs and only 11 INTs. ...

Rivers gets a taunting fine
ProFootballTalk.com —
There was a moment on Monday night when Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers apparently mistook Raiders defensive tackle Gerard Warren for Jay Cutler . Rivers taunted Warren, drawing a penalty. Rivers also has drawn a fine. So the Chargers quarterback will be diverting $7,500 of his new-contract money to the Human Fund, and hopefully he has finally learned not to act like a jerk, on national television or otherwise.

Kyle Orton and Broncos Try to Lock Up AFC West in San Diego
The Big Lead —
Two years ago, the San Diego-Denver storyline centered around trash-talking rivals Philip Rivers and Jay Cutler. With Cutler in Chicago, the Broncos were supposed to be cellar-dwellers - well, we didn’t think so - and Rivers and the Chargers were anointed AFC West champs in August. Except the Neckbeard Roared, the Broncos stunned the Patriots and Cowboys, and with a win tonight, Denver would be a jaw-dropping 6-0 and seriously close to locking up the division.
Denver played this game last year, too - sprinting out to a 4-1 start, an early division lead, and seemingly, a playoff berth. Then the wheels fell off in ...
