"Palin Curse" Moves to St. Louis
The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae —
All politics aside, we weren't big fans of the Flyers starting the season by allowing the focus to be on an individual who was seeking election to the vice presidency. We'd been waiting months to see hockey start again, and with the presidential race dominating most of the cable outlets 24/7, we navigate to the sports channels and pages for relief. It's in the past, so there's no need to dwell on the point.
But before last night's win, fans had been jokingly blaming the Flyers winless start on "the Palin curse," which, to carry the theme, may have been lifted when the Governor from Alaska dropped the puck at St. Louis last night. Before the ceremony, Blues ...
Former Falcons goalie falls in Sarah Palin's spotlight
Red Sox Monster —
Editor's note: This is unrelated to the Red Sox. But hey, it's the offseason, and frankly, I can't help myself on this one. ------------------------------------- As a Western Massachusetts native, I remember distinctly the first Springfield Falcons game I attended. The highlight? Watching Manny Legace ...
Another Sterling Palin Night for the NHL
The Sporting Blog —
Since the last ceremonial puck drop went so flawlessly for vice presidential candidate/No. 1 Hockey Mom Sarah Palin and the NHL, the parties decided to do it again in St. Louis last night. The Blues rolled out a carpet to center ice so Palin wouldn't slip. Unfortunately, Blues goalie Manny Legace did slip ... because of the carpet. ...
This Just In : Manny Legace Endorses Barack Obama
Can't Stop The Bleeding —
OK, that’s a slight stretch. “Q: What does the VP do everyday?” asks David Colon from The Gil Meche Experience, answering his own question with “A. Drop hockey pucks, I guess. Seriously, how many of these is she going to do?” Probably not many more, but it’s very suspicious how it took Sarah Palin’s star turn at last night’s Kings/Blues game to exorcise The Curse Of Wasilla she’d previously placed on the Philadelphia Flyers.
Legace Trips on Ceremonial Carpet, Leaves Game
FanHouse —
Filed under: Blues, Kings, NHL Videos The above video tells the story quite nicely. Before last night's game between the hometown Blues and Kings in St. Louis, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin was scheduled to drop the ceremonial first puck. But as the Blues came onto the ice led by goalie Manny Legace, he slipped onto the ice surface when he stepped onto the carpet that was going to be used for the Palin ceremony. Seeing the risk, the team rolled up the portion of the carpet in front of the bench so the players could avoid stepping on it. Unfortunately, it was ...
Manny Legace Trips On Carpet For Sarah Palin At St. Louis Blues Game
FanIQ Blog —
Well, as I mentioned before, the Sarah Palin curse nailed the Blues last night as they got smoked 4-0 by the Kings and lost goalie Manny Legace when he slipped on the red carpet that was used for Palin's puck drop.
Naturally, because I enjoy watching people hurt themselves, and I know you do too, here's the video, which was previously unavailable last night.
Apparently Legace says he has a hip flexor and shouldn't be out too long, but judging by that shot of him sprawled out on the ice after his first save, I think he's going to miss more than just tonight's game. ...

I usually like to make a cheap joke when it comes to people I don’t know getting injured. But this? Yanno what, make your own jokes for this one. I start rattling off jokes, I’ll have the Secret Service at my door. Okay, just one. Maybe Manny should have just said he was dead. ...
St. Louis Blues Goalie Injuries - Manny Legace Injured on Sarah Palin Carpet
Midwest Sports Fans —
Former goaltender Rick Wamsley last donned the Bluenote in 1988 and retired from the National Hockey League after the 1992-93 season.
Yet no one would have blamed Wamsley if he was thinking that he might be pressed into emergency duty last week when the St. Louis Blues hosted the Florida Panthers.
Wamsley, an assistant coach and goaltender coach for the Blues, watched in the third period as Marek Schwarz became the fourth goaltender to see action for the team this season.
Schwarz helped finish off a 4-0 shutout Saturday for Blues rookie and hometown prospect Ben Bishop (Chaminade High), who limped off with what was termed a “lower ...
St. Louis Blues Fans May Want Obama Nov. 4th
DETROIT4LYFE —
Sarah Palin's carpet may swing St. Louis Blues fans to vote for Obama come November 4th, if they weren't already leaning that way. The blue carpet laid out for Republican party Vice President candidate Sarah Palin, sniped Blues goaltender Manny Legace as he came out from the locker room for the pre-game skate around. Legace wound up allowing two goals on 12 shots before leaving the game with a hip flexor injury related to the fall. The Blues got killed by the Kings, 4-0. When Sarah Palin was introduced it appeared most of the stadium was booing her, perhaps because her presence caused the stupid Blues ...

Puck Daddy —
(Ed. Note: We know a lot of you Puck Daddy veterans have been waiting for this bit to get going, so here goes. As the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue, we're bound to lose some friends along the journey. Gone but not forgotten, we've asked for these losers to be eulogized by the people who knew the teams best: The fans who hated them the most. Here is Chicago Blackhawks fan Raskolnikov of Melt Your Face Off, fondly recalling the St. Louis Blues.) By Raskolnikov I moved to St. Louis from suburban Chicago ...
Stanley Cup Final Game 3
Scotty Hockey —
"We're not going to get too down about one loss and not too excited about one win that's the way it is. It's just going to be good to come back on Thursday night." --Brad StuartWell, sadly I won't be back to see it but I am happy to have seen three great games in the Stanley Cup Final. Should they go seven, perhaps I'll hit it up but as of now, my experience at the pinnacle of pucks is over. It has been a wild season and one that I will sum up once the Cup is raised but that is another day. Here are some thoughts on tonight's action as the Penguins held serve, winning at home 4-2 to cut their series deficit to 2-1: *The music ...
