by Adam Gretz Filed under: Bruins, Rangers, NHL Fans, NHL Fights, NHL VideosBoston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas celebrated his new contract extension with a 1-0 shutout win over the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon. He also made some highlights for another epic meltdown, this one sparked by Rangers super-pest Sean Avery. Video: Sean Avery drops Zen robot act, hits Thomas with stick
Puck Daddy —
Welcome back, Sean Avery. We missed you. Luckily, you didn't miss Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas's helmet with your stick with 5:24 left in the third period of the New York Rangers' game in Boston this afternoon. Even if it was, as is the defense from the Rangers' locker room, an "accident." From NESN's coverage: Was it an accident? Another case of Sean Avery: Victim of Circumstance? Another chapter in the "poor, misunderstood, well-dressed me against the world" book Avery's been writing for the last two seasons in the NHL? The Boston Globe's Bruins Blog had the postgame ...
Rangers Shut Out In Boston Again!
Puck Central - A New York Rangers & NHL fan Blog —
Well Sean Avery was up to his usual tricks in the Rangers vs Bruins game by trying to get under the skin of Tim Thomas. Unfortunately for Avery and the Rangers, it didn't work and the Bruins won the game 1-0 for the second time this season in Boston. If you didn't get a chance to see the game, chances are you may have already seen the Avery/Thomas incident that occurred late in the 3rd period. During a TV timeout Avery looked around to make sure no one was watching and then skated towards Thomas who was on his knees stretching. Avery then tapped Thomas on the back of the head as he skated by, pretending to do it unintentionally. Thomas took exception to what Avery did (as ...

Thanks for the Post Ref! I was at the game yesterday, so I didn’t get the benefit of hearing what Brick and Jack had to say about this. I gotta tell you, I totally agree with Andy Brickley on this one. I have no problem with players being a pest. What I take issue with is the stunts like Sean Avery pulled yesterday. It’s totally uncalled for. More frequently he seems to not want to answer the bell for himself either. I noticed a few times yesterday he was going after David Krejci, but as soon as Milan Lucic came around, he was a ghost. I had your back for the “sloppy seconds” comment. Unfortunately like Paulie in Goodfellas, “Now I gotta turn my back on you.” ...

Back To Old Tricks, Avery Clocks Thomas’s Head
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
It was only a matter of time until Rangers enforcer/resident bad guy Sean Avery re-asserted himself as a resident enforcer/bad guy. Now we know that the gestation period for Avery to get back to his old tricks was one month, with the instigator clocking Boston goalie Tim Thomas on the head after a stoppage of play 31 days after re-joining the Rangers. sean avery video shot rangers ...

Folks, I confess, Sean Avery is going to make me start caring about hockey again. But only if I get me some more of this. Seriously, it's clearly the goalie's fault for being there. That, and being a goalie. Who doesn't want to hit those guys in the head with a stick, really? It's like going to a theme park and not setting a mascot on fire. ...
The Thomas/Avery "Accident"
Hub Hockey —
With 5:24 left in the third period this was the "accident" that took place between Tim Thomas and Sean Avery during a TV timeout. I call it an accident because after the game the Rangers locker room was pretty sure of themselves when saying that the helmet "tap" was simply an accident. An accident? I mean we are talking about Sean Avery. A player who makes a living getting under the skin of the opposing team. The guy that basically reinvented the instigator penalty. The NHL even named a rule after him because of what he pulled in last years playoffs against the Devils. But we can just chalk this up to an "accident". You kidding me! You're telling me that in a sport where ...
Sean Avery Strikes Again and Tim Thomas Doesn’t Like It
Rumors and Rants —
There aren’t many people that enjoy Sean Avery’s shenanigans except, well, Sean Avery.
Among Avery’s all-time hits are the now-infamous “sloppy seconds” line, which was just classic comedy if you ask me. In the end, though, it got him run out of Dallas
Even farther back, there was the screen he pulled during the playoffs where he basically face guarded Martin Brodeur. As a result, the NHL instituted the “Avery rule” overnight to make such an act illegal. Awesome.
And now we come to his most recent act of dumbassery. During a timeout against Boston ...

Avery “Accidentally” Hits Thomas
Hockey Beat —
We all knew it couldn’t last forever. Supposedly “reformed” NHL bad boy, Sean Avery, claims that his hit to the back of goaltender Tim Thomas’ head was merely an accident. Uh… he’s a really terrible actor because he might as well have been whistling and looking around when he did it.
Anyway, Thomas wasn’t going to take that crap and he retaliated by giving Avery a nice shove to the back of the head. What a mess. I really think that it’s a mistake to have him back in the lineup. It’s a privilege that people dream about growing up to be drafted and chosen to play in the NHL and I’m kind of tired of this clown ...
FROM VERMONT TO VEZINA: TIM THOMAS' ATYPICAL TRIP TO THE TOP
The #1 Source for New England Sports Opinions and Propaganda... —
Tim Thomas added another trophy to an already impressive case, winning the Vezina last week. He becomes the first Bruin to claim that hardware since Pete Peeters in 1983, and the first American since Jim Carey in ‘96. But Tim Thomas’ trophy case isn’t impressive just because of the number of awards he’s won. It’s more the variety, and the difficulty in pronunciation. ECAC All-Star is easy enough on the tongue, but what the heck is the Urpo Ylönen trophy? Tim Thomas’ road to the NHL veered far off the beaten path. Strangely enough, for the first time in his career the Vezina winner goes into next season as the clear cut #1 goalie. He’s played in minor ...
