The Avery Rule
james mirtle — I know sometimes it seems as if all of the Sean Avery nonsense and coverage is overblown, but he's actually quite disliked throughout the league, and in a way that goes beyond that of the traditional Darcy Tucker/Jordin Tootoo type pests. And I think that's part of the reason he won't be a Ranger next season. In the clip, Marty Brodeur obviously wants him to stop, and gives him a push and a chop with his stick, the ref is telling him to cut it out and even teammate Chris Drury comes over, during the power play, to tell him to play it straight. In any event, I don't think we'll have to worry about it happening again or the potential ramifications that ...

Screening Or Unsportsmanlike?
Scotty Hockey — Everyone across the hockey universe seems to be going nuts over Sean Avery's conduct prior to his goal tonight so I felt I would put a separate post on the incident. First off, watch the play if you didn't already see it: ...

The problem for Avery was that his dance partner, Brodeur, wanted nothing to do with him.
THAT'S HOW THE PUCK BOUNCES
nypost.com 4/14/2008 — YOU were expecting, maybe, the Devils to go easily? Thinking, that as Sean Avery turned completely away from the puck during a second period Rangers 5-on-3 and waved his stick incessantly in Marty Brodeur's face, that the Devils goalie would...
The NHL Now Just Making Up Rules As They Go
tiricosuave.com 4/14/2008 — You may have seen the video from yesterday of Sean Avery blatantly trying to distract Martin Brodeur by waving his hands in stick back and forth in from of him. The NHL took notice of this and immediately implemented a rule making this an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Does this seem absurd to anyone else or is just me?
