Thirsty Thursday

Brad Lidge - Dale's Pale Ale I've never drank this beer, but I do know that it costs a lot of money per case (>$30) and more importantly...it comes only in a can! About time the can made a comeback. For many years, most beer was downed from a can. You needed a church key for a while, but then the pop-top came along and really increased the popularity of canned beer. However, the bottle slowly took over. Canned beer was left for dead, only to be consumed by rednecks, tailgaters, and college kids. The only way it could be sold was in 30-packs, marketing with the "quantity over quality" theory. Such a sad turn or ...

Shane Vic Got... CoJacked Up!
Published 5/8/2008 by Matt P at The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae
The Phils stole another one in the desert last night, coming back from two late-inning deficits to take a 2-1 series lead heading into today's finale with the Diamondbacks. After tying it in the 7th, the Phils found themselves down by a run in the 8th. Shane Victorino struck out swinging, but the ball got past D-Backs catcher Chris Snyder, and Vic tore toward first base, where his helmet met Conor Jackson's face, and CoJack's arm clotheslined Vic and sent the Hawaiian, well, you get the point. Happy birthday, CoJack! Vic stayed in the ...

Conor Jackson and Shane Victorino Collide [MLB Walk-Off]
Published 5/8/2008 at FanIQ Blog
I was going to lead with Barry Zito returning to what he does best: starting and losing, but is that really news anymore? Plus, Zito fortunately isn't on my fantasy team. Conor Jackson is. In the 8th inning, Shane Victorino struck out swinging but the ball rolled behind the plate creating an awkward angle for CoJack to field the catch from Chris Snyder. That awkward position turned into an even more unfortunate catch. Victorino's head caught Jackson's left arm and head and thus the vicious collision above. Despite how it appeared, Conor says ...

Shane Victorino and Conor Jackson Got Friendly At First Base
Published 5/8/2008 by PostmanR at FanHouse
Filed under: Philadelphia, Phoenix, Phillies, Diamondbacks, NL East, NL West, MLB Video My favorite rule in baseball? The dropped third strike. Even if you completely swing and miss at a horrible pitch -- or maybe a good pitch -- there's still a chance for redemption. Hey ook: I struck out but I'm still on first base! (A.J. Pierzynski remembers this well.) But, as the above clip between Shane Victorino and Conor Jackson shows, sometimes the angle of a throw from the catcher ends up ...

Eagles Gals Saving The World One Bikini At A Time | SBB I'm linking to this because the Eagles cheerleaders are doing something great for the environment, and should be commended. It has nothing -- nothing! -- to do with the fact that there are photos of attractive women in bikinis. No sir. Shane Vic Got... CoJacked Up! | The 700 Level Baseball gets all contacty and stuff: Mike Downey pwns the Sun-Times | We Are the Postmen Chicago Tribune writer puts the Chicago Sun-Times in its place for calling out the Chisox's blow-up-doll-filled clubhouse.
