Bill Walton, Shaq Exchange Slaps
FanHouse —
Filed under: Heat, Suns, NBA Videos, Miami, Phoenix, ESPNI believe this qualifies as our second manufactured, somewhat embarrassing media-vs-player fight in recent times, following the Terrell Owens-Keyshawn Johnson spat. (Funny, same network involved. Hmmmm...) Luckily, Shaquille O'Neal rescues this tete a tete with ESPN commentator Bill Walton by quoting a little-known regulation from the Big Man Code. In Shaq's defense, you can't really call him a liar for saying he's going to bring a title to Phoenix. You could him ...
Bill Walton and Shaquille O'Neal exchange zingers
Ball Don't Lie —
I'm a little torn on this one.
On the one hand, Bill Walton sort of has a point. (Whoa, that felt weird to type.) Are we really supposed to believe that Shaquille O’Neal is all of a sudden healthy and ready to lead a team to a title just because he drank a 'lil cactus juice in the desert? That stuff must be awfully potent.
On the other hand ... well, yeah, good point, Shaq. Walton missed something close to like 350 games in his career. He really shouldn’t be the one commenting on other people’s injuries.
But hey, what do you think? Who's side are you on? ...
WTF Bill Walton Now Dissess Shaquille O’Neal !!!
SidelineShow.com-SportsTalk Radio —
Written on February 12, 2008 – 4:51 pm | by Harry Robinson | Luke Walton daddy has joined the bash party in dissing Shaquille O’Neal. Now for all you confident Laker fans that forgot what O’Neal has done for you. O’Neal won three rings took you guys out of the dark ages and bought you back to the mainstream. Walton you or your son was NEVER on the level of Shaquille O’Neal and all this poppin off why would you want to awake a three time champion. OOPS I mean a four time champion O’Neal has won a ring after he left Laker land and you guys with the best player in the game can’t get out of the 1st round?? Laker Walton and fans calm down and just remeber pay back is a ...
Shaq and Bill Walton are Feuding
MVN Outsider —
Shaq shouldn’t have made those claims in the first place, and if Phoenix does win the NBA Championship this year, Steve Nash and Amare will have a lot more to do with it than Shaq. The Diesel was once nearly impossible to defend, but his quickness is gone, and if he thought he needed rest playing with the Heat, he’s in for a big surprise when he plays with the Suns at full speed.
I respect Shaq for what he has accomplished; he’s right up there with Russell, Chamberlain, and Kareem for best centers of all time (although he will never be higher than 4th best among that group), but his best days are certainly behind ...
Sports Randomness Vol. 5 featuring Shaq and Chris Berman
Sportaphile —
Bill Walton recently criticized Shaquille O’neal for his seemingly improved enthusiasm towards playing this season. Shaq was injured and unhappy during his time on the Miami Heat, which caused him to sit out a chunk of games on the bench. Now that Shaq has been traded to a first place team, he’s excited and dedicated to winning a championship this year.
This has led Walton to imply Shaq was faking injuries because he didn’t want to play for a losing team. Walton says “Shaq’s arrogance is an insult to people who think”.
I’m not going to quote Shaq’s entire reply, because you can ...

Bill Walton Takes Shaq to Task
Larry Brown Sports —
I remember watching Walton’s criticism of Shaq air on ESPN Sunday. I thought it was harsh and poignant, and most of all, accurate. I didn’t think much of it at the time because I was in agreement with Walton’s assessment. Well, come to find that Walton’s comments have created somewhat of a stir that resulted in a response from Shaq. Thankfully Tom Ziller posted the video at FanHouse (via Ballhype) for our viewing pleasure. (If you don’t have time to watch the video, you can read some of the exchange instead). ...

Shaq vs. Bill Walton
From Courtside —
I’m not too sure about Big Man Code 2257, but whatever it entails, Bill Walton broke it. Shaq is one of the most respected and well-liked players in the NBA and its very rare to hear someone scrutinize him at that level. There is no doubt; the Big Fella has a lot to prove. (Assist: Fanhouse)
Walton Vs. Shaq
BostonsportZ —
Former self proclaimed "Celtics great" Bill Walton (who our blogger Mike does a great impersonation of) has just ripped Shaq on ESPN and he has responded in typical Shaq fashion, a humorous way. In case you don't know what Shaq was talking about when he mentioned former Utah Jazz Center Greg Ostertag. In 1997 Shaq slapped Ostertag in pre game warm ups, hard enough to knock him to the floor.
Shaq Daddy will smack yo ass down if you dare cross him!
Fanster.com —
I mean seriously. I don’t think that ANYONE thought that when the Suns acquired Shaq last week that he would already have the impact he has had on Phoenix without even playing in a game yet. He really is a lot funnier, witter and more lively than I ever thought. Enjoy…

THEY SHOULD MAKE THIS A SHOW
With Leather —
Athletes with gigantic personalities should have public catfights way more often. When Bill Walton basically called Shaquille O'Neal a goldbricker for riding the bench in Miami ("I've seen a lot of spinals, dude"), I didn't think it could get any better than Walton saying, "Shaq's arrogance is an insult to people who think." But, as we may or may not learn when Shaq takes the court with the Suns, it's best not to count the Big Aristotle out of any contest. His retort isn't necessarily spirited or even rational, but I certainly enjoy his citation of Big Man Pecking ...
Bill Walton vs Shaq: What should the show be named?
Hail Mary Jane —
Ok so apparently Bill Walton doesn’t like the Shaquille O’neal deal to the Suns. On ESPN last weekend, he made that very clear and he also happened to be pretty critical of Shaq’s confidence. Well this displeased Shaq who happens to be on my short list of people I don’t want to piss off. The other people are on this list are Ron Artest and Lorena Bobbitt.
Here is the video of them going at it. This would make a really funny sitcom or uhhh PTI-knockoff.

Wizards Insider reported that Caron Butler will probably sit out the NBA All-Star game. And Comcast SportsNite did, indeed, just report that Caron won't play in the NOLA. Good. For selfish reasons, I'd rather him not play because I'll be on a plane during the NBA All-Star game and I want to be able to see Tuff Juice play when he really shows out on the big stage.....after all, he was 1-7 with 2 points last year. But really, the rest will be good for him. He will be revitalized and motivated for the post-break. Plus, snub amends can be made with a replacement. It should be Hedo Turkoglu. Onto tonight's game, I'm excited about it. This team, despite 6, 7 ...
Shaq Is Ready to Go Ostertag on Bill Walton
The Big Lead —
Taking you into the NBA All-Star weekend - where Patrick Imig from Joe Sports Fan will enthrall you with witty tales from New Orleans, the Daytona 500 and perhaps even a boxing recap - is this week-old video of Shaq absolutely going off on Bill Walton. It’s fantastic. “If I’m faking an injury, his whole injury-plagued career is a fake. You remember what happened to Greg Ostertag? You were there right? Ok, enough said.” Easily one of the 10 coolest athletes of the modern era.
Shaq vs Kobe: Again
SLAM Online —
by Marcel Mutoni
For a few years, most notably on Christmas Day, the NBA shoved the Kobe/Shaq saga down our throats. When O’Neal’s Miami Heat lost all sense of relevancy, we were given a reprieve from the tired storyline … and now, of course, it’s very much back.
Tonight, Shaq makes his debut in a Suns uniform and guess who’s in town to greet him?
Thankfully, Shaq is downplaying the matchup against his former nemesis and head coach.
On the eve of Shaq’s much-anticipated Phoenix debut — and on the eve of another reunion with his former Lakers running mates — Shaq spoke in ...
Shaq Disses Bill Walton

Everyone probably has already seen this but here is the video from the Bill Walton-Shaq squabble.
Bill Walton is a complete idiot. He always ends up saying something for the reaction, sort of like Skip Bayless (another ESPN idiot). Usually what he says is ignored, but Bill went after the wrong person in Shaq.

Shaquille O’Neal Photos Credit: Icon SMI“It’s sad that he says those things. We shared so much here, together, for three years, good and bad, 3 1/2 years. I just think it’s sad that he’s got to do that. He didn’t want to be here, he didn’t want to play for [this] kind of situation, 35 years old. He wanted to go to a contender and we sent him there. We sent him to Utopia and we’re left here with the carnage and I don’t know why he’s not happy. It’s really a shame that he would insult those people like that because they gave him care. They cared. They didn’t kiss his butt. They cared about him.” - Pat Riley, Miami Heat Head Coach Over the course of his long, storied ...
Shaq is Proven Wrong About Bill Walton, Videos

Shaq and Walton have a history, Videos. I know that Shaq said that Bill Walton has broken the Big Man Pecking Code Ordinance # 2257, but there was a time when Shaq sought the approval of Mr. Walton. In fact there was a time that Mr. Walton stood right next to every person Mr. Shaq mentioned in his diatribe.

The Rap —
Thursday March 5 2009 - 1:08pm Eastern (Toronto, ON)
So, I’m sitting here wondering what to write about and I start thinking back to a week ago when the Raptors were preparing to face the Shaq and the Suns in Phoenix.
Well, a week later, the Raps are now getting set to tip it off against one of Shaq’s former teams - the Miami Heat - and the big man also made the headlines in Raptorland over the past 7 days for his “RuPaul” comments about Chris Bosh.
Zack Cooper will likely be on this blog later today with some sort of wrap-up from Toronto’s practice (he covered today - not me), but my contribution to ...
