Jetzt, da Pat Riley offiziell zurückgetreten ist, befinde ich mich irgendwo zwischen der unsicheren Erkenntnis, dass er bereits vor zwei Jahren seinen Zenit überschritten hatte, zolle ihm andererseits Respekt, nicht mitten in dieser Katastrophensaison hingeschmissen zu haben, was z. B. bei einer Eskalation der internen Streitigkeiten mit Shaquille O'Neal durchaus hätte passieren können. Pat Riley hatte nie einen schlechteren Rekord während einer RS.
