Arizona Fan Throws Water Bottle At USC Players
Published 2/29/2008 by jason at SPORTSbyBROOKS
The TUCSON CITIZEN reports that police are looking for an Arizona fan who threw a water bottle at a USC player during Thursday night’s game. With less than a minute to go in the Trojan’s win in Tucson, USC’s Davon Jefferson made an exclamation dunk, then pointed to the Arizona student section, a.k.a the Zona Zoo. Well, one Zoomate took exception to the taunt, and tried to tag a Trojan with his liquid. (Video after the jump.) BREITBART.TV lays up tape of the water toss: About 49 seconds into the clip, the bottle hits USC’s Dwight Lewis in the foot. And at 1:47, a replay shows a fan just to the right of the backboard ...
Tim Floyd, Fan Target

Another bottle on another floor. As a Bulls fan, this made me smirk. But I have to say that Kevin O’Neill was pretty on-the-ball last night after this “garbage” *rimshot* occured. God job from him. Also, notice how…
A) …Easily O.J. Mayo slices through Arizona’s defense.
B) …Davon Jefferson first taunts the student section as what he thought would be The Last Word in what must have had a few off-air exchanges
C)…Rece Davis promptly objects to the behavior. (Good boy, Rece.)
D)…Jay Bilas still is mastering the art of the pen-to-screen analysis. ...
Arizona Fans Are Sore Losers

Actually, this behavior simply mimics what’s becoming an epidemic in college athletics. The set-up: Arizona fans were mad they were getting housed by USC and when Davon James punctuated USC’s dominance with an emphatic dunk, complete with him pointing to the Wildcats crowd, a `Zona fan decided they’d pay him back. With a bottle of water:
Now, maybe James shouldn’t have pointed at the crowd after he spiked that dunk, but the fact remains, you don’t through stuff at opposing players or teams. Furthermore, I’m pretty sure James was responding to ...

If you haven't been lucky enough to see some of my old classmates acting especially impressive last night, here is the video. It appears that a fan threw a bottle of water at USC's Davon Jefferson last night at the end of the game. Let me clear something up from this report - I went to U of A, and if a kid is crazy enough to throw a bottle at a player, I PROMISE you it wasn't water. ...
Kevin O’Neill lays the smackdown

Basketball purists and old people get really pissy about the chants and cheers a home crowd administers against opponents in college basketball. I suppose this is not without warrant; sometimes the cheering gets borderline embarrassing and lacks tact. But on the same accord, these are drunk 19-year-olds in college. They are not at the Lyric Opera House or viewing the latest exhibition at an art house, they are at a college basketball game. A certain level of immaturity is going to occur and it’s well within reason.
But throwing a water bottle at an opposing coach is not within reason. That’s ...
Don't Throw Water Bottles In The Desert [H2own3d]

Storming the Floor mentioned this yesterday, and now we have the moving picture evidence of the water bottle heave during the Arizona-USC game on Thursday night.
The As the USC blog All Things Trojan points out, Arizona head coach Kevin O'Neill did everything to try and prevent events like this. He made a video ... he tried everything!
Not only is throwing a water bottle onto the court dumb in a general setting, it's downright suicidal in Tucson, Arizona. Imagine if Minnesota fan chucked a parka toward halfcourt. (This is, of course, imagining that a Minnesotan has the ability to be a dick.) Either ...
