Coke Zero With a Twist
D.C. Steeler Nation —
I wrote back in November about Troy Polamalu's reprisal of Mean Joe Greene's famed Super Bowl ad. And now the fine people at Coca-Cola have seen fit to let slip this little tidbit. Apparently, there's some sort of "twist" to this version. Whatever. I hate that we, as eager fans are forced to suckle at the teet that is methodically planned-out media hoopla. I picture the unweildy execs down in Atlanta watching with delight as this Youtube clip's #s swell. "Dance, minions, Dance!"

Steelers Today - A Pittsburgh Steelers blog —
Troy Polamalu will be debuting a new Coke ad during the Super Bowl. The ad will be a revision of the Mean Joe Greene Coke ad of the 70’s. While the two commercials are going to be quite similar, the folks at Coke promise that the new ad will have an unexpected twist. They’re not telling what that twist will be, so tune in to the Super Bowl to see the mystery revealed.
Here’s a teaser from the new ad:

Da scrip club, as it's known in Pac Man Jones' hood. I challenge you to find one major city in America that doesn't have one. And well, Tampa may not be a major American hub of commerce, per se, but they've sure got them some scrip clubs. 43, to be exact. Yeah, you read that correctly. FORTY. THREE. Which leads me to the conclusion that Jeff Reed's going to need two chaperons this week. Let's get someone like Larry Zierling on that. Thanks. This particular scrip club right here was apparently voted Best Nude Club...AGAIN. I bet this would even be Best of Delaware, right Domski? Plus, afterwards, you know, if you're hungry or ...

A Sneak Peek At The Polamalu "Mean Joe Greene" Coke Ad
AwfulAnnouncing —
Mentioned last week that Coke was planning on recreating the Mean Joe Greene ad from the 70s with Troy Polamalu, and First Cuts has your first look at the spot and some behind the scenes footage. If you want to pretend to be surprised with the commercial, don't click below.... Looks pretty spot on, and I still think it's a great idea. Polamalu's dead pan deliver is even pretty Mean Joe'ish as well. It'll be interesting to see the final product on Sunday. Troy Polamalu Super Bowl Coke Commercial, Preview.
I will enjoy watching the full conclusion of the Coke Zero commercial on Super Bowl Sunday this week. Both of these guys deserve whatever merits and accolades come their way. For Joe Greene to say he enjoyed it and that the twist they put on it was “perfect” shows what a classy guy he is. If it had been Don Shula and the undefeated Dolphins team being mocked, surely they would be crying bloody murder and saying that this is the problem today, no originality.
Troy Polamalu deserves everything he gets too. He is the ...

Old School: Mean Joe Greene Finally Receives Award for Coke Commercial
Steelergurl —
In a special ceremony to be held this Sunday before the Steelers play the Bengals, Mean Joe Greene will finally be honored for his work in the famous 1979 Coca-Cola commercial. This ad has been lauded as one of the top TV ads of all time and this fall marks the 30th anniversary since the ad was released.
Greene was actually awarded the honor back in 1979, but has never officially received the hardware. Greene, along with Tommy Okum who plays the boy handing Mean Joe the Coke in the commercial, will participate in the special pre-game event. ...
