Somewhere between a Kid's Choice and an ESPY

In the department of random, dated news: The Stephon Marbury interview. The highlights, if you will: "We always wanna win the trophy. We call that the shiney stuff...I shoot to win because I shoot to win. And that's it." "My sister Stephanie, that's my namesake, that's what she is to me...that's my daughter name...she been praying for this forever and it finally happened yesterday when I kissed her, I felt her body and I felt her soul. I was delighted to be kissing her. I couldn't even cry because I knew they were gonna be happy tears so I was able to control them. You know, you really cry when you really bad ...

What's up kids? Here are some links from around the interwebs... First of all, I know I'm gonna be looking for people to write game recaps this season. I've got everything set up so I can watch games, but it's just not gonna be as easy for me to catch games this season. Obviously, I'm going to do whatever I can, but I'd love it if I knew I had a few of you to fill in. So identify yourself (emailing me would work) if you're game (especially if you're funny and speak English.) One of the more balanced looks you're gonna get at Isiah Thomas as a coach. In case you've been living in a cave, the Isiah Thomas ...
Friday: SB Nation link and Celtics themed blog link of the week
Published 9/29/2007 by Jim
SB Nation link of the week Regular readers of Green Bandwagon know that I do not like the Knicks. And yet I am a big David Lee fan and I love Posting and Toasting. Furthermore, Stephon Marbury is quickly losing his mind and P&T has been all over it. Therefore, I am obliged to send you over there to check out the latest from Marbury. What happened to this guy? Are drug tests random in the NBA? Is this what it was like from the late 70s until the mid to late 80s? Can you honestly tell me he's not under the influence of something? I always thought he was a bad ass of sorts. But now every time I see Marbury he reminds me of everyone's buddy that ...
Atlantic Division Slogans
Published 10/3/2007 by Jim
In an effort to show that Green Bandwagon is back in business I'm analyzing the slogans of various NBA teams. Unfortunately some organizations did not feel inclined to have one. Poor decision. Although it seems like they are still rolling out even as I write this. Never mind the fact that they should be ready for training camp. In each case I've been to the team's homepage, checked out the ticket section and done a Google search. If I could not find a slogan I secretly cursed the team. We'll survive. Enjoy. ...
Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks: 1/21/08 - Game Preview and Open Game Thread
Published 1/21/2008 by Jim
The last time the Boston Celtics played on Martin Luther King Jr. Day they lost to the Atlanta Hawks. What a difference a year makes. Of the nine players that saw time that day (Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, Allan Ray, Leon Powe and Michael Olowokandi) only Perk, Powe and Rondo remain. Furthermore, Green and Ray each scored 22 points to lead the Celtics in scoring. Ray is now out of the league and Green can't find minutes on an awful Minnesota Timberwolves team. Although Big Al's team leading 17 rebounds that day were in fact a harbinger of things to come. On the bright side Green did the following in the loss: ...
YES SIR!
Published 1/22/2008 by Jim
It's been about eight hours since the Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks. And to be honest I'm not even remotely over it. Let's hit some of the highlights: Kevin Garnett taking over down the stretch. Tommy Heinsohn, not surprisingly, and Mike Gorman, surprisingly, letting their disdain for the Knicks players out. Repeatedly. Quentin Richardson and Paul Pierce getting ejected. Advantage Knicks. Jamal Crawford's offensive game. It's legit. New York's malaise on defense. The amount of weight Eddy Curry, Jerome James and Richardson are carrying. Nate Robinson's inspired play. Rajon Rondo's flashes of excellence. Eddie House's back breaking threes and ...
Stephon Marbury Should Be A Professional Prognosticator [New York Knicks]
Published 2/27/2008 by Leitch at Deadspin
SLAM Online originally featured this video, featuring Tracy Jordan's Stephon Marbury's reaction to the Knicks signing of Zach Randolph. Worked out well for everyone; that excitement, man, it's contagious.
It's particularly amusing in the wake of the great Zach Randolph "possession." How young we were back in July 2007 ... how little we knew!
(Actually, we all knew. Except for Stephon. And Isiah. We're sure Zach knew, though.)

Stephon Marbury Smokes Some Fire Dope
Published 2/27/2008 by Dave at Sports Blog - football, basketball, and baseball
I found this over at Deadspin, and it’s really quite the gem. Stephon Marbury, as you can see, is high as a kite. And maybe I’m “misremembering,” but I don’t think “youthier” is a word. How’s the “big move” that Isiah made worked out? Well, check here, for instance.

The Knicks Remain Awesome As Always: Stephon Marbury Banned From The Garden
Published 2/29/2008 at FanIQ Blog
The circus that is the New York Knicks just took a new awesome turn. Starbury has now officially been banned from MSG by Isiah Thomas. Hell, I'm surprised it took this long.
Well, I'm not sure it's 100% official, but since it's being reported by the always trustworthy NY Post, I'm inclined to believe it. By the way, apparently Starbury is a team captain, I wish I'd known that before, because that is awesome.
Anyway, according to a Marbury confidant, the point guard is also under a gag order by Knicks management, forbidding him from speaking to the media. Marbury has not commented since his Jan. 22 ankle surgery.
And that's ...

The Knicks Continue To Entertain Us, Night After Night
Published 3/6/2008 by Dave at Sports Blog - football, basketball, and baseball
Even when the Knicks aren’t being blown out, and Zach Randolph isn’t dribbling through his legs and trying to juke a guard at the three point line, they still seem to entertain.
Stephon Marbury, who’s out the rest of the season and has received much criticism from Isiah, says he wants to be a Knick for the long haul.
“I pray to God that’s what happens. I love New York. This is the only place that I want to be in,” Marbury said before New York played Cleveland. “This is it. Like I said, there’s not too many players that can say when they ...

A Tribute To The Great Isiah Thomas
Published 4/18/2008 at FanIQ Blog
It's a particularly sad day folks. Isiah has been canned. We all knew it was coming, but now that it's actually happened, I'm truly in shock. Who will I turn to for hilarious NBA hijinks on a daily basis? Who will I mock consistently for being the worst coach/GM in sports history? Frankly, I don't know.
But to help us all heal, here's a look back at the hilarious moments that defined Isiah's tenure as Knicks coach/GM/franchise killer.
It all started out so well. Here Starbury is incredibly psyched about Isiah having gotten Zach Randolph. The Starbury/Isiah love affair started on this ...
Oh, And This One
Published 5/11/2008 by Dave at Sports Blog - football, basketball, and baseball
I’d be doing you a real dis-service if I didn’t include this one. Watching Zach Randolph dribble around like an idiot and chucking up an air ball is one thing — watching Stephon Marbury scream to the streets of New York that the East is scared now. . . it’s way better.
