Duncan's slide was stupid, but not premeditated
Published 3/13/2008 at Blogging the Bombers - NY Daily News Blogs
It appears that yesterday’s Shelley Duncan incident has woken up baseball fans, as my e-mail box overflowed with folks taking one side or the other. Predictably, many Yankees fans wrote of the “fire” and “passion” that Duncan showed, tying it to the presence of Joe Girardi in the manager’s office. The anti-Yankees fans shouted (lots of capital letters and exclamation points) about the lack of class, the dirty play and the desperation of a team trying to regain its glory. Somewhere in the middle, I agree. I like Shelley Duncan a lot, but I don’t think his slide into Akinori Iwamura was the smartest thing in the ...

Duncan's getting plunked, but when?
Published 3/14/2008 at Blogging the Bombers - NY Daily News Blogs
A few thoughts heading into the weekend: So much for Camp Quiet. Like I didn’t know that was going to happen. The Yanks-Rays game Saturday should be incident-free if both teams know what’s good for them. Yes, Shelley Duncan will play in the split-squad affair, but if the Rays retaliate by plunking him with a pitch, all hell will break loose and suspensions will be severe. We all know that Duncan will get hit at some point down the line, but these teams meet 18 times in the regular season. There’s no reason to do it a few days after the bench-clearing incident. Look for suspensions to be handed down ...

I have no idea who these two clowns are but they talked about the Yankees-Rays cage match on a video blog over on WFAN.com. I kid. It’s Sweeny Murti and Mark Feinsand of the News. They know their stuff.

Yanks-Rays Brawl Proves Baseball is for Sissies!

Shelley Duncan's spike up slide into Rays second baseman Akinori Iwamura and the ensuing "brawl" just prove the point that baseball players, for the most part are a bunch of sissies.  A brawl means fists flying, teeth being dislodged, a few great tackles, and the chance of blood being spilled.  A "brawl" in baseball terms means one shove, a leisurely trot from ...

PlateGate And The Brawl: A Roundtable Discussion

With all that has happened between the Rays and Yankees this week, we here at Rays Anatomy felt the need to convene thoughts on the happenings. Me, Tommy and Erik started a dialogue regarding the incidents, examining how things could have been avoided and what lies ahead as the regular season approaches. This was done over email, much like a discussion between colleagues sitting at a bar.
