Taylor Mays Hits (on) the USC Song Girls
Double Extra Point —
When USC safety Taylor Mays decided to return to school and turn down millions as a top 10 pick, many thought he was crazy. The 2-time All-American, who is 6'3, 230lbs. with 4.4 speed, is truly a freak of nature that will arguably be the best player in the 2009 college football season. It's when you see videos like the one below, however, that you truly realize how great college can be for a big man on campus like Mays - especially at Southern California. I'm not quite sure what WR Damian Williams is doing in the corner, but if he's there watching his girlfriend, then I'm now a fan. So Erin, how you doing?
The Endorsement: Staying in School, by Taylor Mays
The Big Lead —
Chest-bumping with USC song girls? It’ll probably be enough to cushion the blow of passing up millions in the NFL draft (he would have been a Top 10 lock; have to figure he’s Top 5 April). Note that late in the video, Mays gives a shout-out to the decidedly less magnetic Damian Williams, who is sitting quietly in a corner, probably avoiding text messages from Mitch Mustain. Our favorite song girl in the video? We’d probably go with Lindsay, but a fourth viewing of this video may be necessary before making a firm decision. (via Arash Markazi)

The Big Flapjack —
The first 2 minutes aren't really that great. It's just some dude on the football team dancing around trying to keep up with the girls. Obviously he's just trying to get laid. At the 2:10 mark is when it gets good....or atleast that's when you get to see the girls up close. ...
USC Song Girls Practice With USC Safety Taylor Mays
FanIQ Blog —
It's been too long since our last post about the lovely USC Song Girls. Thankfully, USC safety Taylor Mays came to the rescue, and gave us another excuse to talk about them... including a stellar video that Mays made with teammate Damian Williams.

USC Safety Hangs Out With Song Girls (w/ Video)
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
Taylor Mays is a bad, bad man. He’s listed at 6′3″, 230 pounds, is lightning fast, and can hit hard enough to make this happen . He also just so happens to play for Pete Carroll and USC, so he is a lucky, lucky man. USC Song Girls (Oh? You don’t go to USC? Your school only has “regular” cheerleaders? What a pity.) So not only does he go to school on a gorgeous campus, he’s cheered to victory by the famous Song Girls and has a coach cool enough to let him make a video of his time with the ladies. That’s after the break. (via Pete Carroll’s Twitter , which you really should follow) Good stuff, especially when Mays tries their routine. ...

For his next trick, Taylor Mays will attempt the impossible: Making Heisman voters care about a safety
Dr. Saturday —
Usually, star players publicly deflect Heisman hype, which is fine by me, given my own aversion to the H-word. In fact, I'm trying to remember the last plausible candidate who actually admitted he wanted to bring home the trophy instead of retreating behind the P.R. wall and its great repeller of individualism, "team goals." Of course, the individual award would be nice, but anyone perceived as arrogant enough to deign to care about such self-absorbed frivolities risks his candidacy, anyway, since Heisman winners are above all "likable," in a generic way, and almost never prima donnas by reputation. ...
