Big 12 Media Days: Pirates Don't Send E-mail
The Sporting Blog —
Pirates don't send emails. Mike Leach condemns the uselessness of cell phones, and also reveals he has never sent an email. Other things happened at Media Days, sure, but nothing really happens until Mike Leach says something odd. ...

Kansas State
Bill Snyder is ready.
The first question Snyder received Wednesday at Big 12 Conference media days was if there’s a danger that he might actually "kill" himself in his attempt to restore the roar to the Wildcats’ program. "I hope you said that in jest," Snyder told the Kansas City Star reporter who asked if this challenge could actually be a coach-killer

Video Of The Week: Mike Leach Is No Techie
The Redshirt Señior —
Mike Leach doesn't do Twitter. He doesn't do MySpace, Facebook -- or even e-mail for that matter. The Texas Tech mad genius and Kip Dynamite would clearly not be BFFs. During Big 12 Media Days, Leach went on a rant about technology, in which he says he'd like to break or outlaw cell phones with video, debunked the authenticity of any tweets or any other social networking site claiming he wrote it and admitted that he's "never sent an e-mail himself." ...

Mike Leach Wins Media Day Quote Contest I Just Made Up
MOUTHPIECE Blog // A Chicago-Addled Sports Blog —
So, I tried to get all serious on Kirk Ferentz’s lack of Twitter/Internet knowledge Monday, but whatever: it’s oftentimes a generational thing, and some people are stubborn like that. If Ferentz doesn’t want anything to with the Internet, it’s at his own peril.
Ferentz, it seems, is not alone in his lack of knowledge. Joe Paterno had an amusing quote at Big Ten Media Day, calling Twitter “Tweedle-doo, Tweedle-dee.” But, he’s old. Really old. It’s hard to mock anything the man does. Respect your elders, and all.
So in a contest I decided to make up right now, and that I’m only judging ...

Mike Leach does not like your new-fangled technology
Outside the Boxscore —
Current Texas Tech head football coach Mike Leach had a rather interesting Big 12 media day interview regarding the current use of technology. Specifically he rambles about Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and I guess that new-fangled cell phone that can show you video. He does not like them one bit and does stress that he is not on any of them. I guess the head coach with a pirate in his office has to set some boundaries. (Courtesy of The Red Shirt Senior) ...
Texas Tech invites the public to a gallery of team frustration (Updated: Tech pulls plug on Twitter in response)
Dr. Saturday —
Editor's note: In response to media attention on players' social networking sites, Texas Tech issued a team-wide ban on Twitter sites after this post was originally published Monday morning. Please see the update at the bottom of the post.
Texas Tech boss Mike Leach has never been much for customs, conventions or arbitrary constraints of any kind, an independent streak that's tended to work in his favor as long as the Raiders' profile has continued to climb. With increased success, though, comes increased expectations, and after Saturday night's last-second loss at Houston dropped its record to 2-2, Tech's chances of equalling last year's ...

Mike Leach: International man of mystery
Red Renee —
Texas Tech Head Coach Mike Leach is like an onion blossom- many layers of crispy fried goodness. He’s also an expert at making press conferences entertaining, something lacking in Columbus (both good and bad I suppose).
In his latest blast he goes after the nubile, milk-fed “distractions” aka the girlfriends of Texas Tech football players. Here’s Leach’s latest plus some from the greatest hits collection. Enjoy: ...
