ESPN's Brad Nessler Wants You to Leave Tom Bradley Alone
Published 1/23/2008 by Sportz Assassin at FanHouse
Filed under: Patriots, AFC East, Tennessee Basketball, Kentucky Basketball, SEC Basketball, NCAA Basketball Video, Boston We all have slips of the tongue and not all of us have a backspace key to quickly clean them up. Enter ESPN's Brad Nessler who was calling last night's Tennessee-Kentucky hoops game. The broadcast was being brought back to them after a quick break to gloss over the video of Patriots' QB Tom Brady walking around with his foot in a boot. When Nessler got it back, he ...

The Duke Blue Devil Is Out With A Knee
Published 2/28/2008 by Awful Announcing- at Awful Announcing
I think I'm going to completely bypass all of the fun I could have with this situation because it's never good to see people hurt, but this is a must see video. The Duke Blue Devil Mascot was doing one of it's ever-so-cool stunts by surfing over some fans when he decided to jump off. Not a good idea.... ...

Stunt Leaves Duke Blue Devil Mascot Hurting
Published 2/28/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: Duke Basketball, ACC Basketball, NCAA Basketball VideoThis video will only be played about 10,000 times in the coming days: (Via Awful Announcing.) Yes, that was the Duke Blue Devil mascot with two very bright ideas: First, he decided that it would entertain the fans to stand on a surfboard that was on top of a bunch of the Cameron Crazies. Second, he decided that it would be smart to jump off said surfboard. The result, according to the ESPN broadcast crew, was a sprained right knee. Just wondering: Isn't Duke supposed ...

Duke Mascot Injured While Surfing Over Dorks
Published 2/28/2008 at The Sporting Blog
By Chris Mottram Sometimes we come across videos that are just too good to be true. This would be one of those times: Now before you get all up-in-arms about me making fun of someone for getting hurt, please know this: I only laughed for about five minutes at that clip. See, I do have a heart. Also, Duke won the game ...

Duke Blue Devil Sucks Enough To Injure Himself In Stunt
Published 2/28/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Fairly quiet and inconsequential night in college hoops so we'll start with the highlight ... Duke's Mascot injures himself in a surfing stunt (thanks to AA for the video) Not funny, but funny. What actually happened was that the refs called a foul on Georgia Tech for this incident and Duke got a couple more free throws to begin the second half. Speaking of foul shots, you're going to be shocked, SHOCKED by this stat. The Yellow Jackets didn't shoot their first free throw until there was 9:30 left in the second half. I won't make too ...

Weekly Pwnage: Mascots Injuries For The Win
Published 2/28/2008 by Chris at Intentional Foul
Another brilliant video upload from the Awful Announcing crew. This time, we have the mascot of the Duke Blue Devils trying to entertain the always-subdued Cameron crowd by fooling around on a surfboard. However, it appears as if Mr. Blue Devil forget how to land when he jumped off: The result? A sprained knee. As of now, there have been no reports on whether the Blue Devil will be healthy by the ACC Tournament and beyond. I’m left wondering if this will hurt Duke when it comes to their NCAA Tournament seeding. An injury of this magnitude can cause a team ...

Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
Published 2/28/2008 by Mike White at Tar Heel Mania
One of Duke Basketball’s traditions is for the Blue Devil to ride a surfboard on top of members of the pep band, who roll to propel him across the court. In Duke’s win over Georgia Tech, however, the stunt went horribly wrong (thanks to Awful Announcing for the video): Granted, it’s just a ...

DUKE MASCOT AWESOMELY INJURED
Published 2/28/2008 at With Leather
I don't know what I can say down here that isn't already said in the headline.  Apparently Duke's mascot -- THE Blue Devil himself -- got some fan help in order to execute his most eXXXtreme stunt yet: stand on a surfboard while Duke students laid on the floor and pushed the Devil-surfer along at a vertigo-inducing height of 12 inches.  Annnnnnnd then he sprained his knee.  I promise you, you haven't experienced joy until you've watched someone writhe around in agony while the giant head they're wearing is frozen in a mischievous grin. [Awful ...

Surfing Is More of a West Coast Thing

This from the Duke Drawer of Shame. I’d be remiss if I didn’t put up this video via Awful Announcing. Hope the guy-or-girl inside that Devil is okay, but that is some WEAK sauce. The Phoenix Suns Gorilla is pissed off on behalf of all competent mascots. And I can’t believe That Dude in all blue at the end of the video was accepted into Duke. I just can’t.

Blue Devil Mascot Listed As Day-to-Day
Published 2/28/2008 by Alex Whiteleather at MVN Outsider
On Monday night, the Duke Blue Devils continued their solid season with a 71-58 win over Georgia Tech, improving to 24-3 on the 2007-08 campaign. However, the evening wasn’t without its problems for Duke — the Cameron Crazies lost their inspirational leader during the game to a sprained knee. Of course, I’m talking about the mascot. Will the backup Blue Devil be able to pump up the Crazies, or is this an ominous sign of things to come for Duke? Hat tip: Awful Announcing

Duke Blue Devil Not Good At Surfing, Jumping
Published 2/29/2008 by Dave at Sports Blog - football, basketball, and baseball
I saw this last night when I saw my Yellow Jackets get dismantled by Coach K’s football team (they tackle players, foul, and are annoying as shit about it), and I must say: There should be some sort of athletic test for these guys that are mascots. Props to the Blue Devil for keeping a smile all the while writhing in pain.

The Duke Blue Devil is Going To Be Out 4-6 Weeks
Published 2/29/2008 by Marco at Storming the Floor
For Duke haters, this video of the Blue Devil mascot injuring his knee may wind up rivaling the "This Is Why You Suck" video. And don't go calling us Duke haters, it's clearly written in the STF Rulebook that we must post any video of a mascot being injured due to hilariousness.

Duke Blue Devil blows out his knee: What the??!?!
Published 2/29/2008 by houroc at SportFiends
Ok so I am a Duke fan, always have been and honestly I feel kind of bad for not only posting this but also finding it hilarious.  Anyways, apparently during the Duke game the other night, the Mascot tried people surfing and afterwards he jumped off but he sprained his knee.  Now this jump was no more than a foot off the ground, how he managed to do this, I have no idea Tags: blue, devil,, mascot

Hooray For Links! March 10
Published 3/10/2008 by jtom at Super, Scintillating and Sarcastic
I was never a big proponent of doing link dumps and the like on this site because, well, it didn't really make sense to me. Why would I simply reproduce things that are already out there? But as I did my own scouring of the Intertubes for college hoops content, I realized there was just too much quality (and, at times, utterly awful) stuff out there to simply leave untapped. So I give you Hooray For Links! which should appear at completely random intervals. Because without links, it's not really a blog, it's just a place to put thoughts I might not want to forget. Them links be after the ...

The Duke Blue Devils Can't Guard Anyone
Published 3/21/2008 by JC at (Obsolete Feed)
Let's just be honest here. Finding an athletic player on the Duke men's basketball team is like trying to find a Pell Grant recipient at Duke University. Anomaly is quite the overstatement. So it should be no surprise that the Duke Blue Devils find themselves in quite the precarious position this morning, because they beat Belmont on the scoreboard last night in Washington D.C., but lost so much more. The next team to play Duke University needs to run until their lungs burn out. I mean Forrest Gump mileage, because this has to be one of the worst defensive groups Mike Krzyzewski has ever fielded in tournament ...
