Remembering the '93 Phillies and the early days of rap-rock
Big League Stew —
When Carlos Ruiz squeezed his mitt tight around Nomar Garciaparra's pop fly on Wednesday night, it did more than send the Phillies to their first World Series in 15 years. It also marked the official start of what will be countless blog posts paying tribute to the gloriously-mulleted '93 NL title squad. So allow me to start the festivities with this long-lost public-access TV show appearance by The Jesters of the Court, the seminal rap-rock band that would later pave the way for Rage Against The Machine, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock and Linkin Park. Yes, it's a shame that someone with the skill to rhyme "Kevin Stocker" with ...
PHILLIES FANS, THEN AND NOW
With Leather - Sports news and gossip, panda sex, and the occasional Toonces the driving cat Photoshop —
The band you see here is the Jesters of the Court, a pro-Phillies group of hardcore rap-rockers who totally owned Lehigh Valley public access TV back in 1993. Put kindly, the Jesters — how do you say…? — suck dog balls? I believe that’s the appropriate terminology.
But as embarrassing as 15-year-old crappy fan songs may be, I can’t say that it’s definitivey any better or worse than the video after the jump.
That’s five male Phillies fans ...
Behold 1993's Rapping Philly Fans
FanHouse —
Filed under: Phillies, NL East, MLB VideoThe Philadelphia Phillies are officially in the World Series, which means that they need a song. An anthem. Something to remind their fans that no matter how good their team is, they're only as good as the warmed-over musical sounds accompanying them say. Wanna know why the 1993 Phillies did so well? They had the power of amateurish homemade hip hop: The ways in which that video is perfect are manifold. For example: Did you know people used to wear their hair in incredibly different ways as now? Who knew? Nostalgia is ...
1993 Remembered: It’s The Fightins’ Yo
The Sports Complex —
In the next few days I fully intend of writing something up pleading for a stop to all the ridiculous comparisons between the 1993 Phils and 2008 editions. I’ll save the details for the rant, but the 93 team couldn’t be more different from the 2008 edition, both on and off the field.

Philadelphia Phillies Music Video For 1993 World Series
FanIQ Blog —
It doesn't matter if the Phillies face the Rays or the Red Sox in the World Series. The Phillies are winning the World Series, period, and it's all because of fans like the ones above.
This is a 1993 music video - apparently filmed in one of those countless downtown Philadelphia barns - by a group called Jesters of the Court that actually appeared on Lehigh Valley Public Access TV. It is PHENOMENALLY awful.
And don't think that this year's fans aren't up to the task either. They're absolutely ready to roll. How ready? So ready that they've already got ...
