World Golf Championships: Tiger Woods Was Down 3 With 5 Holes To Play, Then This Happened
FanIQ Blog — Yeah, golf highlights! Tiger Woods was down 3 with 5 holes to play in the first round of the World Golf Champions to J.B. Holmes. That's basically the equivalent of having 99 yards to go with about 40 seconds to play in football. Did he lose? Of course not. Woods put on one of his greatest shows to date. Birdie on 14, Birdie on 15, Birdie on 16 and the final uppercut, an eagle on 17. All of which came on impressive puts, complete with signature your done fist pumps. Woods rallies to beat Holmes in Match Play [Yahoo!Sports]

Breaking: Tiger Woods Is Very Good at Golf, J.B. Holmes Agrees
FanHouse — Filed under: GolfIn retrospect, you have to figure Tiger Woods was just trying add a little No. 1 vs. No. 16 seed excitement the proceedings. Eldrick hit his very first shot of the Accenture Match Play Championship out of bounds, and things only got worse from there. He was three down through five, battled to within one midway through the round, only to go three down with five to play. One of the best amateur match-play players in the world, Woods hasn't had the same success on the professional level. That's all relative, of course, but when you're expected to win -- and not just win, but do it in convincing fashion -- every time you tee it ...

The Blackhawks At Wrigley Field?
Foul Balls — The Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 3-0 last night at the United Center, giving the team their first shutout of the season, and Nikolai Khabibulin the 37th shutout of his career. They've now won five of their last seven games, but their improved play over the last few weeks isn't the big story with the Blackhawks right now. No, that would be the team's current plans to play a game outdoors within the next year or two. As for where they'd play the game, team president John McDonough was on 670 The Score this morning, and he says he'd like the game to be played at the site of his last job: Wrigley Field . Blackhawks president John McDonough is ...

TIGER WOODS IS F'N RIDICULOUS
With Leather - Sports news and gossip, panda sex, and the occasional Toonces the driving cat Photoshop — Yesterday was just the first day of the Accenture Match Play Championship outside Tucson, but Tiger Woods decided to make it exciting -- well, as exciting as golf gets -- by falling behind J.B. Holmes by three holes with only five to play.  For humans, that's an impossible deficit.  For Tiger, it just means that it's time to win four straight holes with three birdies and a 35-foot eagle. "You're playing the best player in the world, 3 up with five to play," Holmes said. "I just said, 'Don't do anything stupid. Make him beat you.' And he did. What do you do?" ...

Standard Tiger Woods. . .Yawwwwn
MVN Outsider — Taking the Majors out of the question and the final day of a heated Ryder Cup the most dramatic event on the tour is the Accenture Match Play Championship. Tiger added to his legend and further cemented himself as the most dominant individual in sports today with a birdie-birdie-birdie-eagle four hole stretch that gave him the win over 16 seed JB Holmes. Once again scuffling and playing poor Tiger kept within striking distance and pounced on every opportunity given by his opponent. Sit back and enjoy. . .

Tiger Woods wins Accenture Match Play Championship: This just in, Tiger is a beast
Hail Mary Jane — Tiger Woods is really good. No I mean Tiger Woods is really really good. Today Tiger won his sixth straight title by winning in the Accenture Match Play Championship final over Stewart Cink. With this win he also passed legend Arnold Palmer on the all time wins list. Pretty good company. This is Tiger Woods 63rd career win and it puts him in fourth of all time. He needs just two to pass Ben Hogan for third on the list. He also only needs 20 to pass Sam Snead for most all time. Look for that to happen in the next couple of years. GG Tiger. Here a video of some of Tiger’s amazing putting from earlier in the week. Just ...

MARANA, Ariz. (Feb. 21, 2008) - You didn’t think that Tiger Woods would struggle for two days in a row, did you? Tiger’s showing how deadly J.B. Tiger Woods comes from 3 down with 5 to play in World Match Play Championship, Tucson breathesChris Baldwin
MARANA, Ariz (Feb. 20, 2008) - It looked like the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship was going to lose all its buzz on day one. It looked like J.B. Holmes was going to shoot down both Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods in 1-on-1 duels in a month’s time. Then, Tiger Woods got The Look. Hitting one long dagger putt after another and a completely ridiculous 270-yard second shot from ...

Tiger Woods Is Still Pretty GoodIntentional Foul
Leading by three strokes with five holes to play is a good position for a challenger to be in when it comes to PGA match play… unless of course, your opponent is Eldrick Woods. Just ask JB Holmes (UK grad, thank you). So what did Tiger do? Three straight birdies and one 35-foot eagle putt… a standard finish for most golfers, no? While his WGC-Accenture victory is far from ...
WGC Accenture Match Play round one: Thank your lucky stars for Tiger WoodsPGA Punter
Wow! Wasn’t that lucky! No, not Tiger Woods’s recovery against J B Holmes , but the fact that his survival saves the competition from going prematurely flat. However, I throw the word in as it seems from comments I read there is a conspiracy afoot, of which I am apparently a part, to say everything Phil Mickelson does is lucky and everything Woods does is down to sheer brilliance. ...

MARANA, Ariz. (Feb. 20, 2008) - Rory Sabbatini needs a heart transfusion. Fast. On a day when Tiger Woods pulled off one of his most memorable comebacks ever, a day when Phil Mickelson shook off some monster putts from Pat Perez to pull off his own first round win, Sabbatini quietly faded away in another big time event. This time, it’s the WGC Accenture World Match Play Championship ...

This makes sense when you look at the one thing that errs when Woods swing is off - his driver. If ...

Nick Faldo: TaylorMade huckster?Tim McDonald
First of all, I like Nick Faldo and think he’s doing a good job for The Golf Channel and CBS. All those critics who say he should tone down his irreverence are humor-less drones. His humor injects some much-needed irreverence in the game, which has very little. But, I have to say his about his on-air endorsement of TaylorMade on the Golf Channel during the Accenture Match Play ...
