Thursday’s event at OSU (Columbus's TitleTown segment) – which was held between St. John Arena and Ohio Stadium – was similar to ESPN’s College GameDay program. Wendi Nix was the host and she interviewed two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin on the set (one of his Heismans was also perched on the set). Over 200 Ohio State fans showed up dressed in full Buckeye gear. TWO HUNDRED!

ESPN is busy telling us who Titletown, USA is, and they even have profiled a few high school teams and Ivy League schools and stuff. While Los Angeles might be able to make an argument for Titletown, USA, I sadly agree with Mike McColgan, frontman for the Street Dogs, whom I interviewed yesterday that Boston is Titletown, USA, and I’m sure J Rose agrees as well. Confession: We are unable to grasp this Titletown concept. Best we can tell, from the 14 seconds we have watched of it this summer: ESPN arbitrarily determined which ‘towns’ across the country excel in sports, and then tried to bring a Gameday feel to said towns. We’re going to start a fight on here today. It looks like Michigan ( and its United Nations of Dorks ) drew more people to its Titletown taping than Thee Ohio State University. Buck fans will cry about the 10:30 kickoff, but that is no excuse, folks. True, if Erin Andrews was in town instead of Wendi Nix it might have been a different story.Does Anyone Think this ESPN "Titletown" Thing is Anything Less than an Excuse to Crown Boston?
