After the news came out last week that he owed $400,000 to a Vegas casino, Charles Barkley has decided to quit gambling, at least for now. During the pregame show for the TNT broadcast of Monday's game between the Spurs and Hornets, Barkley announced that he was "not going to gamble anymore. For right now, the next year or two, I'm not going to gamble." Barkley said that he doesn't have any money problems and that he has payed back the debt he owes, but he wants to take a break from gambling. As you’ve likely heard, the Wynn Las Vegas casino filed a civil complaint against Charles Barkley, alleging that he failed to make payments on a $400,000 loan the casino gave him on October 18th and 19th of last year. A check was sent Monday by Barkley to the casino’s collections department, but still, this issue has called attention to Barkely’s seemingly reckless gambling habits.
A 2007 report from ESPN.com stated that Barkley has lost about $10 million gambling over the years; in addition, the TNT analyst has admitted to gambling away $2.5 million in a six-hour period one night.
