BOISE STATE DID IT BETTER
With Leather - Sports news and gossip, panda sex, and the occasional Toonces the driving cat Photoshop — "It's your basic Statue of Liberty play with one twist: you throw it to me! Knute Rockne called it the forward pass." Patriots' fans are agog about this, but even Krusty the Clown and Boise St. could run this play. I'd rather watch the video after the jump . . .

MVN Outsider — And people wonder why Duke is so hated in the college basketball world. Might need a recount for some of those Golden Globe Awards, as Duke’s Greg Paulus gave an overdramatic (to say the least) performance against Florida State on Wednesday night (hat tip: Awful Announcing)… OK–this video’s a bit old (it’s from last Saturday’s Patriots-Jaguars game), but it’s still well-worth posting. Check out Tom Brady’s excellent “statue of liberty” play fake, which resulted in a Brady-Welker connection for a touchdown…

sportsofboston.com 1/8/2008 — The awards keep on coming for Pats QB Tom Brady. Today he took home the AP Offensive Player of the Year, beating out teammate and fellow record breaker, WR Randy Moss. Brady received 35 1/2 votes while Moss had 12 1/2. Wes Welker garnered one vote and Brett Favre also received one vote.
Video: Skip Bayless Says Wes Welker Had A Better Season Than T.O.
sportaphile.com 1/11/2008 — The fact that Wes has Randy Moss on one side, and Stallworth on the other side to occupy the opposing teams best cornerbacks didn't matter much to Skip. The fact that Terrell Owens had almost double the amount of touchdowns that Welker did didn't matter much either.
Double Pop
boston.com 1/13/2008 — When Patriots QB Tom Brady connected with WR Wes Welker on a 6-yard touchdown in the third quarter, the play included an element of trickery. Brady was in the shotgun and he faked as if it was a direct snap to RB Kevin Faulk. While tucking the ball behind him, he raised one arm over his head to create the look of a direct snap to Faulk. Brady then loaded and fired the strike to Welker. ...
Donte' Stallworth Has An Alien Alter Ego, Is Also Insane
FanIQ.com 1/16/2008 — Donte' Stallworth has pretty much been the forgotten wide receiver in New England's passing game this year. One could blame that on the fact that he has to play with Randy Moss and Wes Welker, or one could blame it on the fact that he has an alien alter ego. Um, what?
Donte Stallworth's Alien Friend Nicco [Donte Stallworth Has Visitors]
deadspin.com 1/17/2008 — Donte Stallworth can comfortably be considered the "other" wide receiver on the Patriots. He doesn't have the blow-up-a-game talent of Randy Moss, and he doesn't have the electric, sensuous charisma of the sex bomb that is Wes Welker. It takes a bit ...

Analysis from the Patriots' inactive players today: With WR Chad Jackson not suiting up, look for CB Ellis Hobbs to return to his duties as a kickoff returner. Jackson returned kicks last week. Wes Welker Started NFL Career in San Diego, Chargers Could Use Him This WeekendFanHouse
You think the Chargers could use Wes Welker this weekend? Welker actually started his NFL career in San Diego; the team signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech in 2004, and he made the roster out of training camp. That lasted a week, when the Chargers waived him to make room for safety Clinton Hart . Seems ridiculous in retrospect, but who the hell knew Welker would be one of ...

Wasn't Someone Overlooked In The Comeback Player Of The Year Voting? The Sports Oasis
Every year(well, except for 1985) the Associated Press hands out their award for the NFL Comeback Player Of The Year. It's given to the player that shows perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, a severe injury, or simply poor performance. This year's recipient was Dallas Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis . Ellis tore his achilles tendon nine ...
Pack Attack: Round 2-Bring it NYBleacher Report
Everyone expected to see the NFC Championship Game being played in Irving, Texas but that's not the case. The Dallas Cowboys choked at home against division rival New York Giants 21-17 in the divisional round of the playoffs while the Packers cruised to a 42-20 win at home over the Seattle Seahawks. Where does that leave us? Favre and Manning will battle it out. Old school vs. New school. Who ...

Lessons learned from Divisional weekendJ-Beanie Sports
What we learned this weekend about the NFL while watching the Divisional playoff games (besides the fact that I’m the worse predictor in the history of the NFL playoffs).   The Green Bay Packers may have recaptured the Lambeau Field mystic.   Don’t ever count Brett Favre out.   Or Ryan Grant.   The more it snowed, the stronger the Pack became. ...
Coolest Touchdown Ev-ahEveryJoe » Sports Rumors
We were so happy about the New England Patriots’ 31-20 playoff win over the Jacksonville Jaguars that we had a hard time settling down to sleep Saturday night. (And yet that lack of sleep didn’t sap our energy: We definitely had enough pep Sunday to do cartwheels when the Indianapolis Colts lost to the San Diego Chargers. More on that later this week when we examine Peyton ...

Wes Welker: Most Valuable PatriotBleacher Report
Many people seem to believe that Randy Moss is the most important player the Patriots acquired in the offseason. Paul Spicer, Defensive End (On the game plan) We knew coming in you have to get them off on third down, regardless of if they are a four-down team. NFL Playoff Jabber/Divisional SundayFootball Jabber
Something that makes Divisional Sunday a little different than most weeks is both games we have in mind who the winner will be playing. Who’s going to match up better? By ROBERT LEE Journal Sports Writer FOXBORO – Wes Welker made his first playoff appearance a memorable one. Welker led the Patriot receivers with a game-high nine catches for 54 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown catch came on a trick play. FOXBORO, Mass. -- Perhaps an Oscar ought to be added to Tom Brady's lengthy list of postseason awards. "I'm looking for my Academy award," Brady said, flashing that matinee idol smile. He completed the first 16 passes he threw, and overall he was an amazingly accurate 26 for 28, good for 262 yards, including three touchdown passes.
