This seems to have been the most successful Africa Nations Cup ever, especially in terms of interest outside of Africa.  The matches were shown more places on TV, and video like these highlights was shown on the official website and posted to YouTube by the Confederation.  If you are interested in seeing more of these official highlights in English, check out all of the Ghana2008tv posts @ YouTube.  There are official high quality clips from every match of this tournament there.  Also, there is a great article from the NY Times on this Championship match posted on BallHype, which is recommended reading, here -

It's strictly a matter of ratings I think, ric-s. The American public is already having a hard time getting interested in soccer altogether, so the African Cup of Nations is probably really low on their priority list...

USA and MEXICO matches get huge audiences here, especially when they play each other.  Any major US or Mexico club tournaments or matches get good-sized audiences.  Africa Cup would get a good audience - though much smaller - if it was available; there is enough interest to show it here. (domestic league MLS is in off-season during this period, as well as no MLBaseball and NFL)  The biggest African stars are well-known in the USA, as they are follwed by fans of their club teams, especially for Premiership.

Published 2/11/2008 by Marco Pantanella at mCalcio.com
When the 2008 African Cup of Nations began on January 20, few would have put any serious amount of money on Egypt as tournament winners. Despite entering the competition as title holders, the Pharaohs were ranked 6th in the outright betting charts (odds 14/1), far behind big-name favorites such as Ghana (3/1), Ivory Coast (7/2), and Cameroon (6/1). Yet despite the unfavorable pre-tournament odds, the Egyptians really surprised everyone match after match, displaying a disciplined tactical organization, a ...

Andre Bikey Bowls Over His Competition
It wasn't really his competition. It was a medic attending to one of his Cameroonian teammates in the waning moments of its African Nations Cup semifinal victory over Ghana.
