Video: The Barry Melrose ESPN Goodbye Party
Sean Leahy's Going Five Hole — Want to know how ESPN sent Barry Melrose off to Tampa Bay? They got him loaded at The Greatest Bar in Boston (clever name). Here's video, including cameos from Steve Levy, EJ Hradek, and John Buccigross courtesy of Dirty Water TV. Don't they know he'll be back at ESPN by March? I kid, I kid! In all honesty, I haven't seen a sadder send off like that since Richard "Boner" Stebone left Growing Pains to join the military. While the host, Christina White, is quite easy on the eyes (uh oh, someone might fire off a 500-word righteous diatribe ...

ESPN Says Goodbye to Barry Melrose
Barry Melrose Rocks — Yes, folks. This is footage of Barry Melrose's Farewell party from ESPN. There was such a thing. And, amazingly, there were paparazzi (I think?) there to capture the ESPN party on video. Yeah. Someone actually covered it. That sound you hear is ...

Bye Bye Barry
The Power Play — As well all know by now, Barry Melrose left his job as hockey analyst at ESPN to become head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning this season. Like any good employer, ESPN threw a going away shin dig for Melrose at The Greatest Bar in Boston. Was there a vote? Are they allowed to call themselves that? I've been to some pretty great bars in my day. Anyhow, when I heard there was a party for mullet icon Barry Melrose, I was hoping it would be your classic mullet redneck party. Sweet Home Alabama blaring on the sound system, guys in wife beater shirts with stains on them, missing teeth, and the movie Joe ...

Video: ESPN's beer-soaked farewell to coach Barry Melrose
Puck Daddy — After Tampa Bay Rays ace Scott Kazmir screwed the pooch against the Red Sox last night, St. Pete Times columnist Gary Shelton joked that the team would have been better off leaving in Barry Melrose, who tossed out the ceremonial first pitch, as the starting pitcher. And why not? The Tampa Bay Lightning coach is on record as saying that he's "a better baseball player than a hockey player." Check out that form on the mound! (H/T to Japers for the photo.) He looks like the kind of pitcher who'd proudly dab a little Crisco, Bardol or Vagisil on the ball, because any one of them will ...

Video Highlights From Barry Melrose's Farewell Party
AwfulAnnouncing — Sean Leahy at GFH came across this video of Barry Melrose's going away party at the Greatest Bar in Boston which was filmed by some Internet video network called Dirty Water. There's nothing like some sappy music set to a YouTube video to get you all emotional on a Tuesday afternoon.... Nice cameos and words from John Buccigross, Steve Levy and EJ Hradek in there. The host seemed a little lost, but I guess that's what you'd expect from a Boston-based, night club TV show reporter. According to her bio on DirtyWater.com, Christina White, "has an Exercise Science ...

Welcome Back to ESPN, Barry Melrose
Dejuiced! Sports News with No Boundaries — If you are an NHL fan who has been trapped in an ice cave for the last few months, don’t worry nothing has changed. While you were gone Barry Melrose, the face of the NHL on ESPN, was hired to coach the Tampa Bay Lightning. A couple days into the season, Melrose has been fired by the Lightning. If you want to watch a hilarious video, check out the farewell party that ESPN threw for Melrose after he was hired. It was a huge production featuring a number of intoxicated ESPN anchors. See as how the farewell party was just two months ago, it’ll be interesting if they throw him a welcome back party. After a somewhat successful ...
