Los Angeles 3-1 Kansas City

Another lead squandered. Thanks to the game being on HDNet week, I couldn’t catch any of it save for the highlights on MLSnet. And from what I could gather, it was a wild and entertaining match that saw KC once again find the net first. After a fine stop by Hartman off Donovan in the 8th minute, KC took the lead in the 40th, as Claudio Lopez played a one-two with Sasha Victorine, dummied past a Galaxy defender and fired a bullet past Steve Cronin. It was a nice goal, and a relief to see El Piojo find the net once again. From everything I’ve read the Wizards dominated the first half while the Galaxy then took over in the second half. ...

Gotta love AP's enthusiasm. Listen to this captivating description: "Beckham ended the scoring in second-half stoppage time with a 70-yard shot into an empty net for his fourth goal." And people say Americans lack passion for the game. Photo by Mark J. Terrill, AP For U.S. and MLS fans who get a little more excited than AP about 60- or 70-yard shots, here are a few more -- some video, some merely described ... - David Beckham, 70 yards into empty net, Los Angeles vs. Kansas City, 5/24/08: YouTube goal; MLS full highlights - ...
Beckham is Money — It’s an Education !

As an ardent fan of The Beautiful Game, I am very excited to see what the so-called “Beckham-effect” is now having on soccer newbies and non-fans…
These groups, as well as those who are still resisting the chance to ‘get into the game’ are now at least seeing and beginning to understand why David Beckham gets a guaranteed salary of $6.5 million per year with the Galaxy, and why (according to new Forbes figures) he added endorsements to his clubs’ wages, which in total landed him nearly $ 50 million, making him 2007’s highest-earning player… in the entire ...
Sierra Mist Goal of the Year
Published 4 days ago by Hillcrest (noreply@blogger.com) at Hillcrest Road
We're on quite a roll over the past few weeks with Sierra Mist Goal of the Week nominations and wins, and it's about time to start thinking about the Sierra Mist Goal of the Year award. We already have two Wizards nominated automatically by virtue of winning the Goal of the Week honor (Davy Arnaud's upper-90 bomb in week 25 and Josh Wolff's spectacular bicycle kick in week 27). One of those should contend pretty strongly for Goal of the Year. Now we've been asked to submit two more goals to MLS Communications for consideration. The Wizards PR staff picked one, Claudio Lopez's juke and blast against LA on May ...
