Video: "Hell's Bells" classic Trevor Hoffman entrance
(2:27) With Thursday's announcement comes fan flashbacks to a better time - when 'Trevor Time' was a mantra and the man was at the peak of his powers. --- Here is one classic example made by a fan at Petco Park in September 2006; this became his 478th save (tying Lee Smith's all-time record)...

Trevor Hoffman, Hall of Famer?
MVN RSS — Congratulations to Trevor Hoffman.  A few weeks ago, Trevor notched his 500th career save, which makes him a virtual lock for the Hall of Fame.  And as my father would say at this juncture, I think that’s nice.  Really. I don’t want to come off as saying that Trevor Hoffman is a bad pitcher.  In fact, I think he’s a rather good pitcher, and if I were a Major League manager, I’d love to hear “Hells Bells” playing and knowing that he was taking the mound for my team.  It’s just that I’m not sold on closers going into the Hall of Fame based only on how many saves they’ve racked up. ...

Trevor Time May Last Forever
FanHouse — Filed under: Padres, NL West, MLB Gossip, MLB Video Trevor Hoffman is the all-time leader in saves, was fortunate enough to pitch in a World Series, and if that's not enough he got to be a member of the inaugural season of the Florida Marlins. So you would think that at age 41, Hoffman would be fairly close to hanging up the spikes, with little more to prove in this game. You would be wrong. "Well, I think I have more than one [season left]," Hoffman told MLB.com in an exclusive interview while seated in front of his PETCO Park locker several hours before the Padres played the Dodgers on Monday. ...

Top Ten: Stadium Songs We Don't Want To Hear Ever Again
Amphibious Sports Duo — I like to think of myself as observant when it comes to taking in a sporting event. Whether it is in a full stadium of fans or in a near empty building. One of the aspects that always holds my attention is the music selection. In my opinion the music at a sporting event should complement the attitude of the fans and on some occasions enhance the experience. In no way should this translate to playing the same redundant, overused, and downright annoying songs during the breaks in the action. Submitted for your approval or your disdain, here are the top ten stadium songs which we would rather stab our eardrums with a rusty spork than listen to ...

An Award-Nominated Link Dump
Rumors and Rants — Contrary to what we’ve written and said out loud about this 2008 Weblog Awards thing, we’re actually quite gracious. So gracious, in fact, we’re linking to each of the nominated sites (plus a few other quality sites). See? That’s graciousness. Enjoy the graciousness. Smell it. Love it. Vote for it. VOTE FOR US. GAAAAAAHHH. But first, I had to hide all the sharp objects before I watched this Trevor Hoffman intro - YouTube I will be having this discussion with the Padres ownership very, very ...

That's the way to start the year
Five Tool Tool - The Sports Blog That Loves You Back — Word out of Milwaukee, in no way surprising, that Trevor Hoffman will start his Brewer career on the disabled list. Of course, I own him on two out of three leagues, because that is just how I roll, bitches. The move is retroactive to March 27, because the team doesn't think that he'll be out for a very long time, and 41 year old closers are not exactly known for their durability. So I'm not exactly cutting him. Just myself. Luckily, I'm sure this will be the last time this year that I have to deal with hurt players. Good to get that out of the way early, ...

Trevor Waiver Bother
El Lefty Malo —   Word has it the Giants slapped a waiver claim on the Brewers' closer Trevor Hoffman, who despite being 63 years old and throwing 28 miles an hour, is once again one of the league's top relievers. He's doing it with good control, only 10 walks in 39 innings, and keeping the ball in the park -- only one home run allowed. One could argue he's been lucky and the luck might not continue for another month, but his low BABIP (.262) isn't that far from his career mark (.279). Would he be a great addition down the stretch? Hells bells yeah. Would Brian Wilson pull a Papelbon and get huffy over Hoffy? Who cares. The Giants did ...

Will "Hell's Bells" toll in Miller Park this season? The Brewer Nation
By: Big Rygg When you think of the statistic known as "Saves", what comes to mind first? Is it that there are very few closers in the Hall of Fame? Is it that the all-time single seasons Brewers team Save record belongs to Francisco Cordero? Or that the career saves leader in Brewer history ...
