Taylor Twellman On His Bike

Say what you like about MLS but it's a league that damn near guarantees goals via bicycle kick. This great specimen from Taylor Twellman was the only goal in the Eastern Conference Championship game (basically the MLS Cup semi-final) and enough for New England to beat Chicago 1-0 and advance to the MLS Cup final. How he managed to do that with a defender on either side of him (and without blinding them too) is anyone's guess, but fair play to him. D.C. United goalkeeper Troy Perkins was named MLS Player of the Month for August after helping lead United to a perfect 5-0-0 record during the month. --- United began August in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, but ended the month alone in second place only three points behind League leaders the New England Revolution. --- Perkins was also the 2006 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
