The final scoreline read 8-0 in the side’s first 2010 World Cup qualifying match, which was versus Barbados and held at the Home Depot Center.

USA Sets Record, Puts Eight Past Barbados
Published 6/16/2008 by David J. Warner at FanHouse
Filed under: Soccer, FIFA World Cup, US Soccer After challenging itself with friendlies against England, Spain and Argentina, the U.S. men's national team probably figured its opening World Cup Qualifier against Barbados would be cake. Still, cake was never this easy. The U.S. reeled off an 8-0 victory, the largest margin of victory in the team's 122-year history, not to mention a win twice as big as most of my blowout victories when I'm playing Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Wii. Let's be ...
USA Scores Record 8 Goals Against Barbados
Published 6/16/2008 at FanIQ Blog
The US Soccer team isn't exactly known for its ability to score, so Sunday's 8 goal record outburst against Barbados was sort of a surprise. I mean, we all knew the US would win, mainly because Barbados has to find national soccer team players via their web site, but that's still one impressive goal total.
Just to put this in perspective, here's what winning 8-0 in a soccer game is the equivalent to in other sports.
Real football: 278-0
Hockey: 43-0
Baseball: 94-0
Basketball: ∞-0
Obviously it will ...
That'll Make for a Tense Second Leg in Barbados
Published 6/16/2008 by Mike (noreply@blogger.com) at Yellow Chair Sports
Team USA opened World Cup Qualifying with an emphatic 8-0 throttling of Barbados Sunday. The ball found the back of the Bajan Pride's net in the 1st, 12th, 20th, 59th, 63rd, 82nd, 86th, and 89th minute. The thrashing set a new USA record for margin of victory in a World Cup Qualifier, bettering an 8-1 scoreline against Cayman Islands in 1993. Dempsey's first goal, scored at 0:52 set a new USA record for fastest score from the start of a game. If USA scores the first goal in Sunday's return leg in Barbados, the hosts will need to score 10 goals to advance to the regional ...
Barbados World Cup Dreams Go Down Hard [World Cup Qualifying]
Published 6/16/2008 by Rick Chandler at Deadspin
Well, that went about as expected, considering that Sussman is their starting goalie. Barbados lost to the U.S. 8-0 on Sunday in a World Cup qualifier, as you can see in the above video highlights, which are nearly as long as the match itself. Watch closely, because I'm pretty sure we scored two goals during the National Anthem. Here are the unbelievable details. (Imagine the poor sap who had Barbados plus seven goals in this one). It was the worst drubbing in international competition since the Bournemouth Gynecologists beat the Watford Long John Silver Impersonators ...
