San Diego MLS Project —
excerpt from U.S. Soccer,
The U.S. Men’s National Team continued their domination of Mexico with a confident and clinical 2-0 victory to open the final round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in wet and windy conditions at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
Midfielder Michael Bradley scored goals at the conclusion of each half to blaze the way for the USA. The U.S. is now 9-0-2 at home against Mexico since 1999, outscoring their rival 19-3 in that span.
“It's great to start the final round with a win against Mexico,” said U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bob Bradley. “The all around team ...

What great fun !
It was absolutely exilharating to see the USMNT do so well throughout the match last night at Columbus Crew Stadium.
The Americans are far more accustomed to playing in the type of cold, damp conditions that were present thant the visiting Mexicans (although their coach hails from Sweden) - a downpour occurred previous to the kickoff and there was wind, strong enough to warrant consideration of a postponement, as well as a tornado watch which was in effect through the night.
In the early going, it did look like Mexico might take control and be the ...

Michael Bradley 2, Mexico 0
Intentional Foul —
The final round of World Cup qualifying got off to a brilliant start for the United States as Michael Bradley scored two goals to give the Americans a 2-0 victory. The U.S. controlled the pace and flow of the game and featured some strong back line play as they rendered the Mexican attack relatively useless. The hero of the game was Bradley, obviously, who broke the scoreless tie with a nifty rebound goal, courtesy of a DaMarcus Beasley corner kick. Bradley also put the game away late in the second half with a crack from outside the penalty box that knuckled underneath the Mexican ...

US-Mexico Thoughts
WVHooligan - Soccer Blog —
I’m a little slow getting into today. Busy day at work can be to blame for that I suppose. I did however want to go over some brief (real brief actually) thoughts from last night’s World Cup qualifier in Columbus between the US and Mexico.
First of all getting three points to start the final phase of qualifying is huge. Not to mention downing the regional rival in the process is always very nice to do.
I thought some guys played great last night, those being Tim Howard (came up big everytime he was asked to), Michael Bradley (two big goals), and Landon Donovan (wasn’t asked to do much but the little things were there for me).
In ...

Now that was the best tie I’ve ever watched. Down early 2-0 the US fought back hard to earn a tie in the final seconds of the game, keeping the US at the top of the table and pushing Honduras into the World Cup. Bornstien scores as heard on Honduran radio. Two nations exploded with sound as, Bornstien’s head hit the ball and sent it bouncing into the bottom corner of the net. As the US team celebrated, the large and rancorous crowd ...
