United goalkeeper Troy Perkins was named MLS Player of the Month for August after helping lead United to a perfect 5-0-0 record during the month. --- United began August in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, but ended the month alone in second place only three points behind League leaders the New England Revolution. --- Perkins was also the 2006 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
