Vijay Singh Holes Out ‘Water Shot’ at Tuesday’s Practice Round in Augusta
Brahsome - Care To Get Nice? —
Everyone knows about the tradition where golfers skim balls across the water at 16 during Tuesday’s Masters’ practice round, right? Of course you do. Please tell me you do. Anyway, Vijay Singh does just that … and proceeds to hole the sucker out. Good times!

Vijay Singh Hits Hole-in-One During Tuesday's Masters Practice Round
FanHouse —
by Will Brinson Filed under: Golf, PGA, MastersIt's a long-standing tradition that players at Augusta skip balls across the water on the 16th hole during their practice rounds after hitting a tee shot. This results in a large crowd around that hole for even the Tuesday practice rounds, who generally applaud loudly every time someone skips the ball across the water and onto the green. So, when Vijay Singh skims the water and somehow holes out, you know they're going nuts. The quality isn't perfect, but the zoom onto the hole and crowd's reaction is pretty ...
Vijay Is Good at Skipping Golf Balls Across Water
Dogs That Chase Cars —
During the practice rounds at Augusta National, one of the big traditions for the golfers and patrons is for the players to skip balls across certain ponds and try to get them up on land. Players tend to spend a lot of time on 16 hitting the skipper up to the par-3 green, so why not just make it for a one? "Oh, okay," Vijay Singh said. "I'll do just that." Here is video, via Brahsome, of the ace. Sorry the video and the breathing makes it seem like you're watching some sort of Fijian porno. ...
Video: Vijay Singh Holes Out On Water Skip At Master’s Practice Round
MOUTHPIECE Blog // A Chicago-Addled Sports Blog —
Friends, I’m learning all sorts of new things this morning. Like, for instance, during the Master’s practice rounds at Augusta, it’s a long-standing tradition for golfers to skip across the water on 16 after their tee shot. (The hole is only 170 yards, but apparently golfers tee off short of the water, and then skip it over on their second shot.)
What I’m sure doesn’t happen too often (or maybe ever?), is a golfer holing out on one of these water skips. Vijay Singh did just that yesterday:
Awesome. Just awesome.

Vijay Skips Augusta's 16th Hole Pond for Incredible Ace
Waggle Room —
In yesterday's practice round, Vijay Singh came to the tee at the famous par 3 16th. It has had its fair share of famous holes in one in its time, but this one may take the cake. As Don Chavez found, and then Shane Bacon also posted, I'm going to also post video of Singh's incredible hole in one at 16. (This is kind of like that Paddy Harrington 800 meter par 3 video - it's going viral!)
It is tradition during the practice rounds to try to skip the ball across the pond guarding 16th green and keep in on the putting surface. Vijay does a whole lot better than that! ...

Devil Ball Golf —
It's a Masters tradition during the practice rounds for the players to drop a ball at the front edge of the 16th tee box and try to skip a shot over the water onto the green. The packed gallery cheers the shots with such gusto that you can hear them all over the course, even up at the clubhouse. But rarely -- if ever -- has anybody managed what Vijay Singh did on Tuesday. Excuse the Zapruder film-like quality of the video here; click on the image and you'll see exactly what the Big Fijian pulled off: Seems like Singh's found something that works for him, huh? Don't be surprised if he gives that technique a go ...
Vijay Singh Aces Water Shot On The 16th Hole At The Masters
FanIQ Blog —
I'm not sure how many of you know this, but it's pretty much a tradition during the practice rounds at the Masters for guys to skip balls across the water at the 16th hole to try and get them up onto the green. Needless to say, this is really only something the pros should be doing. ...
Vijay Singh Shows-Off at Augusta
RealClearSports - Blog —
A good round of golf for me is usually measured by how few golf balls I lose in the water. "Alright, only three lost in the drink today. Totally makes up for the 114 I shot."
So you can imagine my disbelief and amazement at seeing Vijay Singh not only intentionally aiming at the water, skipping his ball across the surface and onto the green of Augusta's par-3 16th, but freaking nailing a hole-in-one in the process.

Here’s a video of My Least Favorite Golfer Ever, Vijay Singh, skipping a ball off a lake and into the hole. Don’t say we never did anything for the Masters. First round starts tomorrow and Tiger’s probably gonna win. Again. I should be a golf analyst.

Vijay Singh, skips water to make hole in one @ Masters, Video. What are going to do today? I am going to watch the Masters Tuesday practice round. Vijay Singh makes an off the water, over the embankment, up the green, hole in one! Maybe the video can do my description more justice. Probably not! This was the 16th hole at the Masters during a practice round on Tuesday. Damn technology and camera phones save the day again.

Kenny Perry Charges (The Masters)
Intentional Foul —
Kentucky boy Kenny “Powers” Perry, powered by a five-under 67, is now tied with Chad Campbell atop the Masters leaderboard. Campbell maintained the lead/tie he forged yesterday by shooting a two-under 70. Perry, who in the above video, does a skip-the-ball-trick similar to Vijay Singh’s, birdied holes 1, 2, 12, 15, and 18, while shooting even par on the other 13 holes. Both Campbell and Perry lead the rest of the field by at least three strokes. Apparently, Augusta National is inviting players with no PGA Majors on their resumes into the inner circle. Will either ...
