Posted by moishlashen on Oct 12, 2008 at 2:18 AM agree disagree Mitch looked pretty good. Edge to Mitch. Posted by osakaronin on Oct 12, 2008 at 2:37 AM agree disagree Willie was dominating the fight with some solild punches. Iggy throws a big punch and Buckles Willie, Willie tries to get back up to continue - refs jump in. Nice fight both did well. Draw! Posted by nuklep on Oct 12, 2008 at 2:38 AM agree disagree I call it a draw. Although Iggy had the upperhand when it all ended, willie started it pretty good Posted by the_gritty_one on Oct 12, 2008 at 3:17 AM agree disagree Iggy lands first with reaching left, ...

Five Hole Fanatics —
Analysis and Condemnation later. For now, let's revel in "the punch" and wish the actual game had gone like this fight. Also, does anyone get the feeling that Iginla is a better scrapper than our current "enforcer" (although Roy now has more goals than Iginla, so...)?
Highlights of the Week: No Puck Dropping from [Name Censored], We Promise (10/6-10/12)
Barry Melrose Rocks —
Mondays here at BMR mean a look back at the best plays from the last week. During the regular season and throughout the playoffs, I'll be recapping the best videos from around the NHL during the last seven days. They might be fights, goals or Vice Presidential Candidates dropping the ceremonial faceoff. Anything, really. Kind of like what goes ...

Puck Daddy —
Here are your Morning Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media. • You can count on one finger the number of captains in the NHL who can score 50 goals and knock down a tough player like Willie Mitchell of the Vancouver Canucks with one left hook. Goon of the Random Indeterminate Interval: Kris Versteeg
Melt Your Face Off —
As fights go, this one was pretty dull–just a couple of punches exchanged after a goal mouth scrum. Standard NHL fare. So why did Chicago rookie Kris Versteeg get an instigator and a game misconduct? Because his actions were rife with the kind of douchebaggery that gives gooning a bad name. First, as broadcaster Darryl Reaugh notes, “If you fight with a visor, you ought to be fined.” Check out this fight, from the super-classy visor-wearer Jarome Iginla. Iginla (along with his dance partner, Willie Mitchell) mans up and tosses his helmet before scrapping. Take a note, young Mr. Versteeg. Second, there was one second left in a blowout game. That Versteeg’s team ...
In praise of Willie Mitchell
Nucks Misconduct —
(That's right, turtle you little bitch!)
Beantown Canuck had mentioned some stats about Willie Mitchell that I just wanted to share with you, as defensive defencemen don't always get the proper recognition.
BC-boy Mitchell has not missed a game all season.
He is a +31, which is 6th best in the NHL and 2nd best amongst defencemen. Only Boston's d-man Dennis Wideman has more (+32). Willie could actually surpass Wideman yet.
In the 76 games Mitchell has played this season he has only been a minus in a game 17 times. In the lousy month of January, big Willie was ...

Six Reasons We Love Hockey
Melt Your Face Off —
Six Hex and I were sitting around the office, wondering why no one ever asked us why we loved hockey so much. Then we figured it out–we love hockey more than everyone else, so it wouldn’t really be fair to the video game executives, actors, and “veteran” bloggers you’ve never heard of to be put in such direct competition to them. Lucky for all of you, we love to hear ourselves blog. So, without further ado, here’s the SIX things each of us love the most about hockey. LeNoceur: 1) Canadians. There is no other sport you can watch where most of the biggest stars basically left home and dropped out of school at age 15 to become professional athletes. Well, except ...
