Emmitt Smith: If the Giants Win Today, They Could Possibly Go on to the Super Bowl
Published 1/20/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: NY Giants, NFL Media Watch, New York, ESPNAnother day, another gaffe from ESPN's Emmitt Smith, who has made so many of them that it feels a little unfair to keep bringing them up. But this one, in which he says of the Giants, "If they win today they possibly go on to the Super Bowl," is egregious enough that it deserves mention. Awful Announcing and Pro Football Talk have chronicled all of Smith's problems this year, and there's been talk that ESPN will fire Smith after the season. But I actually think he could provide some ...

You Have To Love Emmitt Smith
Published 1/20/2008 by Fornelli at Foul Balls
There's a part of me that wishes ESPN would just fire Emmitt Smith so I don't have to listen to him say stupid things every weekend, but at the same time, I want Emmitt on ESPN as much as possible because some of those stupid things are entertaining. I was watching Sunday NFL Countdown this morning when I noticed the latest gaffe of Emmitt's, and thankfully somebody was kind enough to put it on YouTube. Wait a second, Emmitt. So you're telling me that if the Giants win the NFC Championship game today against the Packers, they have a chance to go to the Super Bowl? Wow. I had no idea. Emmitt also went on later in the show to tell us that if the ...

Thank You, Emmitt Smith: "If They (Giants) Win Today, They Could Possibly Go On To The Super Bowl"
Published 1/20/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Thank you, Emmitt Smith. You've have the all-time record for rushing yards in a career and now, in one short season, you also have the record for dumbest comments by an NFL analyst. Channeling his inner John Madden, Emmitt informs us that if the Giants win they have a really good chance to play in the Super Bowl. Genius. HT: FanHouse

Video Picks for 1/20

***Win a copy of Disney’s “The Game Plan”…just click this link and post a comment! Seriously, it’s that easy.*** Andy Roddick acts slightly immature when arguing with an umpire over a call. His disses clearly need some work…those insults were kind of weak… The most insightful comment all season from Sunday NFL Countdown: Emmitt Smith says if the Giants win today, they can possibly go to the Super Bowl. Uh, Emmitt…I think the odds are pretty good that the Giants would advance to the Super Bowl if they won this ...

Super Bowl XLII line: Pats favored by 13½ over ... Giants, maybe?
Published 1/21/2008 at Shutdown Corner
A glorious Championship Sunday has now given way to a Bledsoe-slow 14 days of hype for Super Bowl XLII.  Tom Brady and the Patriots wait eagerly for Emmitt Smith to decide what else the Giants need to do to qualify. If Emmitt does decide to put the Giants in the Super Bowl, though (I'm thinking he'll put Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs through a series of Double Dare-style physical challenges first), they'll be 13½-point dogs when they get there.  That's a pretty healthy line considering that the Pats, just ...

Emmitt Is The Amazing Kreskin of NFL Countdown
Published 1/21/2008 by jason at SPORTSbyBROOKS
On a blustery Sunday night in northeast Wisconsin, it was third Tynes the charm for the New York Football Giants. We imagine Seinfeld fan Eli Manning gave this post-game greeting to Brett Favre: “No Soup-er Bowl for You!“ Guess Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila’s cinema inspiration didn’t work. While the Green Bay Packers feel blue about their season suddenly ceasing, the Giants are delightedly destined for the Arizona desert - where they can thaw out their significant others. As AWFUL ANNOUNCING discovers, the NFL ...

Emmitt pulls another “Emmitt”

Are the Giants really in the Super Bowl? ESPN analyst, Emmitt Smith thinks they can “possibly play in the Super Bowl” with a win over Green Bay. No word yet on whether the New York Giants are officially in the Super Bowl.
