Monday Morning Reckoning Week 10
Style Points —
Lots of good stuff to get into this week, kiddies. Not only do we offer groundbreaking on every NFL game, we also cover dominoes, Whataburger, Navajo broacast teams and middle fingers (see above). All this and more in your MONDAY. MORNING. RECKONING!

This one feels like it was played two weeks ago, doesn’t it? Not for Jay Cutler, of course. No, I’m sure this one is still fresh. Probably ripped him to shreds to throw 5, count ‘em 1,2,3,4, 5 picks (2 in the red zone). ...

Kenneth Stanley "Bud" Adams, Jr. is one bona-fide pro football legend. As an original member of the "Foolish Club", Adams can lay claim to ownership of the root American Football League teams, the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans. Adams and Buffalo's Ralph Wilson are the only living members of that club with any controlling interest in their teams, and it was Adams' recent insistence that head coach Jeff Fisher start Vince Young(notes) that has helped the Titans on their recent winning streak after a disastrous 0-6 start. Bud Adams knows football, and he has for a long time. ...

Bud Adams Unleashes Middle Fingers At Titans-Bills
Busted Coverage: Booze, Ladies And Football —
bud-adams-middle-finger-small Bud Adams has always been a badass NFL owner. He told Houston to improve the Astrodome or suck it. The city half-assed the improvements (in Bud’s mind) and so he moved his team to Nashville. He lost his wife of 62 years in February. His multi-million dollar first-round draft pick QB has been a huge bust. One of his best picks ever was shot to death over the summer. Bud Adams seems to have had it – with everyone. YouTube Preview Image Posted: Nov. 15, 2009 Premise of the Video: (from the vlogger) Tennessee Titans 86 year old owner Bud Adams flipping the bird at the Buffalo Bills in today’s game. ...
Middle-finger fine surely is coming for Bud Adams
ProFootballTalk.com —
As Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean pointed out on Sunday, Titans owner Bud Adams capped his team's 41-17 win over the Bills by shooting a couple of middle fingers in the direction of the Buffalo sideline. (Or maybe he saw Floyd Reese's wife sitting in the stands on the other side of the stadium.) Here's the video of the moment. Sure, it's funny to see an 86-year-old man paying homage to the New York state bird. Indeed, we like the idea that, if the Guy Upstairs lets us live that long, we might still have enough passion to fire off a periodic obscene gesture at someone other than the kid on our lawn. But the league office needs to treat ...
Bud Adams: We’re Number One!

What better way to start the week than with an old guy flippin’ the bird?
Yes, Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams was clearly enjoying his team’s win over Buffalo yesterday, so much so that he proudly stood up, pointed at the Bills, and gave them the finger — two fingers, from the looks of it. Oh, and he did that in a luxury box with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell looking on.
I suspect Bud’s fine won’t be quite as big as Chad Ochocinco’s fine for that one-dollar bribery stunt. I also suspect Bud will gladly pay up. After all, ...

Bud Adams flips the bird yet again
TexansChick —
To understand the Texans, you need to understand 'the script' | Main November 16, 2009 Bud Adams flips the bird yet again Okay, the bye week is done, and the Texans are set to face the Titans in Monday Night Football. Their owner, Bud Adams is likely to be in a little hot water. You see, after the Titans beat the Bills, Adams decided to celebrate by shooting the bird at the opposing sideline, multiple times. Video evidence here: Maybe he was sore that an AFC original owner Ralph Wilson is in the Hall of Fame, and he isn't. It is vulgarian moves like this which are one of the reasons why. There is still a push by a block NFL ...

The Titans have gone through a difficult season; fresh off a 13-3 season they were expected to be serious contenders again this season. Bud Adams, Titans Owners, Lets the Double Birds Fly
Brahsome - Care To Get Nice? —
Bud Adams is a controversial figure, especially in Houston, where most people would be happier if he’d just hurry up and die (he did after all, hijack their football team to Nashville under the cover of dark). Of course, that doesn’t explain why he was shooting the double bird in Buffalo on Sunday.
Unless of course Bills fans were booing him. Or, alternately, he was trying to tell Ralph Wilson (across the stadium) that he was going to live longer. Or something. Either way, this is kind of an awesome thing to see from a really old man who runs a football team, especially considering Al Davis hasn’t been able to raise a ...

I honestly have no idea what that was about. It is obvious there is plenty of history between these two teams with two of the most memorable playoff games ever and the fact that both were original AFL teams, but it seems really odd that Bud Adams would do that. I am sure the Houston people will be here soon further profess their love for all things Mr. Adams.

Titans Owner Bud Adams Fires Off A Two-Fingered Celebratory Salute
Total Pro Sports —
In the current NFL, commissioner Roger Goodell may seem like the Czar of anti-fun, but there are still plenty of great ways for both players and fans to celebrate touchdowns and victories. Chad Ochocinco, for example, prefers the intrusive visiting player Lambeau Leap, which is likely to be met with some unexpected gestures from angry Packers fans. Then there are the fans at the new Cowboy Stadium, who prefer celebrating a victory with a bathroom quickie.
And finally we have Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams, who at 86 years old may seem a little old fashion, and the same can be said for his ...

Let me just say this though - to me, this is a non-story. Of all the evils he’s committed, all the horrible, horrible things he’s done - this is not even a blip on the radar. So what, he’s a confused elderly man who doesn’t even put his own pants on anymore. Let’s just be glad he didn’t yank out his adult diapers and shower the fans with it.

Unfortunately, that grumpy coot just happens to be the owner of the Tennessee Titans and his affinity for the ol' double deuce is now immortalized on YouTube. If you have hands, feel free to nervously wring them. That's 86-year-old Bud Adams saluting Buffalo's magnificent fourth-quarter collapse against the Titans on Sunday. Titans Owner Flips Birds at Buffalo’s Bench
Intentional Foul —
I’m not really sure what precipitated this, but Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams had two messages for the Buffalo Bills’ bench after his Titans had secured their third win of the season, and these messages involved birds, flipping, and middle fingers. 86-year-old Adams has since apologized for his finger bombs, saying he was caught up in the moment.

Bud Adams flips off the Buffalo Bills: Video
Sports Rubbish —
The best thing about being 86-years-old is that you can do whatever you damn well please. Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams not only is old, he’s also rich, which gives him double the excuse to do whatever he wants.
His Titans destroyed the Buffalo Bills 41-17 on Sunday, and he was excited, so he aimed his middle fingers at the Buffalo sideline and flipped off the Bills.

Bud Adams Shows Bills His Middle Fingers

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams stuck both of his middle fingers in the air like he just didn’t care yesterday as the Titans were wrapping up a 41-17 win over the Buffalo Bills. I’m not sure what would possess an 86-year-old man to do this in front of 70,000 people. It’s bad enough when a player does it, but when an owner goes down this road, it’s pretty embarrassing. What’s with “the finger” anyway? It’s like the Jerry Seinfeld joke. It seems like such an arbitrary, ridiculous thing to just pick a finger and show it to someone. It’s a finger. What does it mean? Who invented this as an obscene gesture? Someone shows me one of their fingers and I’m ...

Bud Adams Fined $250K for Flipping off the Bills
Music City Miracles —
That's the dumbest thing I've heard of recently. The idea of the NFL adjusting fines based on how much somebody makes is a Pandora's Box: does a helmet to helmet hit get a lesser fine for Dave Ball than KVB?
This fine should have been $25,000, and saying otherwise is just crazy. If you're going to make the argument that he's a billionaire then $250,000 won't matter much more.
Bill Belicheat only got twice this much FOR CHEATING DURING A GAME. Also, Bud had already apologized.
The NFL is officially out of control with these fines.

This is quite possibly the funniest viral video clip I've seen in ages. Thanks for all the comedy, Bud Adams. You're the most entertaining 800-year-old AFL founder ever.
The best part of this whole thing? Bud Adams spent most of the game sitting next to Roger Goodell, the NFL commissioner. Think maybe Bud was sending him a message in the fourth-quarter after Roger had left the luxury box? Or maybe this is some long-standing feud with 91-year-old Ralph Wilson, owner of the Buffalo/Toronto Bills. I kind of like that idea. I'd love to see a sitcom with Bud Adams and Ralph Wilson redoing ...

What the hell has happened to the NFL? Everything is an absurd fine. Right from the get go, I want to be clear that I am not condoning all fine-able actions, but why can't the 'no fun league' just laugh at itself every once and awhile. Chad Ochocinco, who has given the league more money in fines than an average person will make in their lifetime, likes to have fun and joke around. Last week, he was joking around with an official and tried to "bribe" him with a $1 bill. Everyone knew it was a joke, because you need a lot more than $1 to bribe a professional referee. In all honesty this move was in the makings as soon as Jauron fired his offensive coordinator right before the season started.
