Baseball Season Preview: Pittsburgh Pirates [Baseball Season Preview]
Published 3/20/2008 by Leitch at Deadspin
For the third consecutive season, we are proud to introduce the Deadspin Baseball Season Previews. Yes, baseball is awfully close now; it's spring training, after all.
Every weekday until the start of the season, a different writer will preview his/her team. We asked a gaggle of writers, from the Web, from print, from books, to tell us, in as many or as little words as they need, Where Their Team Stands. This is not meant to be factual, or dispassionate, or even logical: We just asked them to riff on why they love their team so much, or what their team means to them, or whatever.

16 Reasons Why the Pirates Streak Won't End in 2008
Published 3/20/2008 by mondesishouse at Mondesishouse.com
16 Reasons Why the Pirates Streak Won't End in 2008 I originally wrote this piece for Deadspin's 2008 Baseball Preview Series I sat in this spot last year and labored through not one, not two, but 79 reasons why it's hard to be a Pirate fan. The research alone for that article made me question why I still bother with this organization. Of course, that in itself was the answer: they're a gold mine of comedic material, whether they try or not. So what did the 2007 Pirates do to prove me wrong? For starters, they went 68-94, extending their streak to an amazing 15 consecutive losing seasons. ...

Don't know how many of you caught this, but check this video out from last night's game. Fast forward to about 40 seconds to see what I'm talking about.
The Parrot sends out his "I wanna sex u up" vibe to Kevin Hart.
Yep, that's the Pirate Parrot thrusting at Kevin Hart during every pitch. No word on whether Hart is into the whole "furries" thing, but that's for another time (and probably blog as well).
Honestly, I found this ridiculously funny (probably since the Cubs ended up winning). And it also goes to show the depths in which the Pirates ...
Entertainment during Pirates rain delay
Published 6/27/2008 at Blogging the Bombers - NY Daily News Blogs
Rain delays aren’t much fun, especially when you have an early flight in the morning. But the Pirates just showed a little video takeoff on the final episode of The Sopranos that certainly lightened the mood in the press box here at PNC Park.
Check it out. It’s on You Tube. Terrific stuff. According to Pirates PR guru Jim Trdinich, it was filmed in a local diner at 2:00 a.m. and no one paid much attention as it was being filmed.
Meanwhile, the tarp is still on the field. I’d assume if the game starts up that Mike Mussina’s night is over. ...
